Always surprises me how we as pilots accept mediocrity these days. Ever look at where many of the foreign crews stay? Not at some dump along the side of a freeway with a Dennys next door! Yet it seems a lot of the international hotels we stay at far exceed the domestic bed bug ridden motels. I just don't get the mentality anymore. The continued erosion of this profession in America is depressing.

So does anyone have any info on the American hotels or the change if a merger occurs. I really don't want to live the next 25 years of my life in various motels 2-3 nights a week. I know it sounds like a petty thing compared to some of the issues but in his job your accommodations are your home for about a third of your life.

Our short LGA is nice. Great restaurant.

Nice is an overstatement. It's adequate; not a hotel I would stay in with my wife or friends.

Days Inn Bradley has a McDonalds within walking distance....

Well said.

I've had a hard time figuring out what exactly will be open to negotiation (should the merger occur) and what will simply be taken from the current APA deal. I hope some better control over our lodging can be achieved.

Also, I was really bummed to see AA guys walking through the Hotel Penn. That brought the number of major US carriers staying there up to three, by my count. US Airways, American Airlines...and Amtrak.

United doesn't stay in anything less than a Sheraton or Hilton. Not sure about delta. Just seems that airways is really bad. Most of the guys here have the attitude that as long as it has a cheap restaurant or free coffee it's great. I'm just trying I get some info, I probably would have stayed away from here if I knew these motels would be my home for the next 25 years.

Stupid response.

It's a bit demoralizing that the IBT was able to get us out of these same hotels and into better accommodations at the dirt-bag regional level. It seems an odd company-culture thing, nobody I work with seems to like where they are staying but are so resigned and beaten down they don't want to do anything to change it.
