Anyone who answers this with anything other than I DON'T KNOW is selling you snake oil. The SLI process will have to work itself out ... negotiation, mediation, arbitration. Once that is done, there is no telling what sort of fences might or might not exist. I would say that if you plan to spend five years in only the equipment and domiciles offered by whichever side hired you, you MIGHT be pleasantly surprised if you could "cross the street" sooner than that.

Typically in mergers (without any exceptions that I know of) you cannot cross bid away from the side you are hired on to until single operating certificate is achieved AND the seniority issues are worked out.

And even still isn't there often some sort of cool down?

With us, we had the SLI and JCBA worked out already. The first bid came out the day the single certificate was awarded and it was a free for all except for the fenced 744 and 777. So, in that case, no.

Oh wow—I had no idea.

Thanks Clamp.
