Quote: All third listers may not be 100% anti-USAPA, but we are all willing to do whatever it takes to get the pay rates up. USAPA is running out of time.
This. This. This.

While we came here knowing what the current rates were, we are all hopeful for a better future. I don't see that in the current USAPA leadership.

That's it.

Quote: Not every third lister is unhappy with USAPA. The West can fantasize about voting them out with the help of the new pilots, while East dreams of the company splitting off the West and merging with AA. Neither is going to happen, but if it makes you feel good, then indulge all you want.
Who exactly would the new union be if USAPA was voted out anyway: ALPA? Yea, that's really what the third-listers want.
I go back and forwards with this. On the one hand I'd like to sea completely new change. On the other I think why can't we just vote in more moderate BPR reps and officers. Well the last CLT election just proved that ain't going to happen. 48% voter turn out, pathetic. Assuming no merger, I think we're 3 years from having the base to vote in meaningful change. Then again, the apathetic 52% that didn't vote might get way more motivated when they see their last 3-5 years will be on LOA 93 rates.

A block of 100 new hires voting in the next year is going to spell trouble for the current direction USAPA is going, never mind the nearly 300 we've hired in the last year and 450 in the last 3 or 4 years. It's near universal in my group of new hire buddies, things are going to change now that we're eligible to vote!

Quote: The problem I see is that whatever union is in place you will have the same people in the same positions.
Exactly. I don't want the job- do you? It's the nature of the beast.

Sums it up. And it's not apathy, it's shell shock and disillusionment.

BTW, has the company(US) asked for any union or employee help?

OK newbie, vote ALPA back in and get the same good service like AirTran and TWA in the next merger. When Dug goes after Spirit or whatever you can be sloted junior to whoever.

LLOL. There is so much "union" going on when it comes to USAPA.

Honestly slotting via equipment is the standard for mergers now. The days of doh are gone.
