Any recent hires? Has it been verified selections are 100% automated and that a CP recommendation or LORs don't help until the interview?

Even though they will never admit it (because it would be slightly illegal) I'm quite sure that age is a factor.

AAL has a huge demographic issue and I suspect the are looking at as many 27-30 year olds as possible.

I'm 43 (a survivor of the lost decade at American Eagle) and if it weren't for the flow through arbitrations I think they'd pass right over me.

I've been flying AA passengers safely for 16 years but that doesn't matter I guess.

8,000 TPIC

Training Committee Chair
Eagle "824" guy

That is my take on it too.
I am 47, scheduled to be in the end of Feb class as an 824.

They are getting so many 40+ age group through the flow that if I were them I would be pulling from the 25-40 age group for the remainder.

See ya on the flip side.

And yet they are sending invites to people with zero PIC time, zero internal LOR, zero internship, zero job fairs. Really makes you shake your head.

No offense, but why? What is wrong with a Comair pilot of 8 yrs who has 8,000 hrs total and never got a chance to upgrade through no fault of his own? Two FOs I know that have gotten the email don't have any of those things you mentioned but they have A320 type and time at a LCC.

Question for the original Eagle (Envoy?) guys about the 824 guys: is this a guaranteed job or just an interview? Do you have to apply or just wait for your number to come up?

Read more, post less. Seriously, this has been answered multiple times over the past few months.

In this day and age more flight time doesn't make you the best candidate. HR runs the show these days and they have done studies about what would be their perfect candidate. The shocking thing is that higher flight time is almost a strike in this eyes of some.

Old dogs, new tricks. Not that I agree with it.
