Some pilots from the military fail to realize that not everyone was born with perfect vision. At the time I made the civilian or military choice they were not allowing any LASIK at all. I had a full ride ROTC scholarship, but if I couldnt fly what was the point. Now 17years later after doing single pilot night freight thru midwest lake effect winters and over a decade flying the line and being a line checkairman, I fell like I've put in a fair share of my dues. But the worst entitlement attitudes I deal with are mostly former military. Now its a small bunch, please dont think I'm saying its all military pilots, but I dont get that same level of attitude from even the riddle wonders. Once everyone gets to the line it doesnt matter what you did in your former life, you are now just an airline FO like everyone else. Some just get to go play with multi million dollar fighters on weekends.(jealous) Everyone has the skills to get to this point so whats the difference. As far as the whole put your country first, that may be the case but a lot of my Air Force buddies all just wanted a chance to "go mach 2 with their hair on fire" It wasnt a patriotic choice, it was a dream to fly fighters, or a financial decision if they couldnt afford flight training/college on their own. I think you'll find that the first people getting called just had internal recs that have more pull than others.

not really. Our tax dollars paid for military flight training. And you can make comparisons. You put them on a higher pedestal of qualifications but imo they still have 0 part 121 time. As someone else already wrote above, aa is hiring pilots for 737/m80/a319/767, not f16s.

wow!!!

Ygtbsm!!!

Additional information is needed in order for evaluation of your application to continue further. A new tab called 'Additional Info' has been activated in your profile. Please enter all of the requested data as soon as is convenient. Once complete, we will continue to evaluate your application. Thank you for your time.

Above is the email that follows the video interview. The new tab doesn't initially display upon logging into your app. First, select a different tab on the left (i.e. Pilot Info, or Flight Hours, etc.). Then the tab titled 'Additional Info' will display below the 'References' tab. The extra info they wanted was SSN and DOB...that's it.

That'd be funny if it was all a scam to steal your identity. :D

so my post was clearly not meant to start the mil vs civilian debate again, its a tired old debate that really doesn't go anywhere, so im sorry for making the thread go off track... someone had asked what peoples backgrounds were who have gotten a call so far. The ones I know who have just happen to be all mil, and all IP/EP.

I don't think mil or civ has anything to do with how good a pilot is, but I would guess the reason why a lot of mil guys get calls is because they can check the TPIC, Instructor, Evaluator, Safety Officer, etc boxes much more often than pilots with 121 backgrounds. Has nothing to do with how good of a stick they are. So when you have 10 or 20 thousand resumes on file, the more boxes you check, the better that probably looks for getting noticed in the stack. I would think that a regional check airman has the same advantage as a military IP in that they get to check the same box. However, its hard to become a check airman and its very selective. Almost every military pilot that comes out after their commitment is up or has retired, is or has been an IP at some point.

If it was a link in the email, then I'd be a sucker. Since there was no link in the email and I had to log into Pilot Credentials, I'm hoping its legit

NEVER EVER give out your SSN. No legit company would ask you to email your SSN. BTW, anyone else get the following for pilot credentials web site?

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' in /home/pc_www/inc/global_pc_multidb.class.php:352 Stack trace: #0 /home/pc_www/public_html/index.php(105): connection->manage_error() #1 {main} thrown in /home/pc_www/inc/global_pc_multidb.class.php on line 352

Agreed I thought it was odd too. It is through the credentials website however and remains there today. Anyone else get the email?

As far as the error message I get that when trying to go to the basic site. If you put aa in place of www (e.g. https://aa.pilotcredentials.com/) you will get to the American PC site.

I only give my personal information to the families of deposed monarchies of equatorial African nations. Otherwise, I don't feel safe doing it.
