I just spent an hour waiting for a hotel room bc scheduling was on a power trip about faxes with the hotel. There were 4 crews waiting for rooms. What a joke of an airline.

At least the new guys have current apps. Hope you all escape to a real airline soon.

What does your comment have to with the thread topic? This is not helpful to those trying to get hired. If you want to expose what you don't like about the company you work for, I suggest you take your complaints about company operations and start a new thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you won't be displaced if your position doesn't go away? For example, 75/76 and other wb folks (at the bottom) are more likely to get displaced because after the "high season" the flying is reduced and therefore the position numbers are reduced. At AA if the total position numbers are retained in a bid status, someone cannot come in from the top and bump you out - they can only attain a know vacancy. This is why guys are upset at the company by offering new hires these positions - as they are already highly desired. They are rightfully upset IMHO as this needs to be fixed-folks on property should get first dibs before they are offered to a new hire who most likely will not get displaced on these particular fleets.

Guys can displace on top of you from other bid statuses, possibly forcing you off to your own displacement. It happens.

If you don't get MIA as your first assignment you can literally put in for MIA during the break after assignments are awarded. Job vacancy runs monthly with a 2.5 month lag. IE the January run will be posted shortly for the April awards.

So if you get an award other than MIA you can participate in the Feb vacancy bid for May assignments. Finish indoc in early Feb, start training in mid/late Feb, hit the line about 6 weeks later, and hopefully transfer to MIA in May.

Try to avoid the 190. 737's and AB's can transfer to MIA. 190 will have a 9 month lock-in.

Enter any transfer requests, or new equipment bids, before the first 5-10 days of Feb. The bid closing date will be posted with the vacancy message. The job vacancy bid closes early in each month and gets posted about 5-8 business days later.

They slot in about #70 of 130.

So not that junior.

That seems like a pretty big jump in just a month... any particular reason?

It has everything to do with the thread topic. Educating prospective new hires on how horrible AA is hopefully gives them good info if they have a choice between jobs. I'd take UA, DL, SWA, FDX, or UPS over AA. Even if I lived in Dallas. That's saying something.

I think it was just because the bid opened to the LAA side. Probably folks that live in or near Philadelphia. It will likely go back to extremely Jr. It only really makes sense for non commuters that have 5 years or less LOS.

I was caught off guard last year trying get out of AMS with LAA metal, 757. Weight restricted with 30 open seats. Luckily, I was in uniform and MIA Captain MW helped me to get on.

Thank you, TW for effin my life up! This is *YOUR* fault.

The title of the thread is "American interviews and class dates." Not "Why I hate my employer."

Start your own thread for complaints. Those who are doing due diligence will read it. But your comments about waiting for a hotel room don't belong in a conversation about interviews and class dates.

I'm not discounting your opinion ... I think that waiting an hour for a room on a layover is wrong. But I also think that you should address that with someone who can change it, and also stay on topic. There is validity for a conversation about why a prospective hire should consider other employers, but that's not the point of this particular thread. Start one about why people should run, not walk, away from an interview with American Airlines, if that's your opinion.

Finally, if you hate it so much, then quit. Or work with the union to make it better. Man, you spew a lot of bitterness here. Think of all that energy that could be devoted to making your life better. Meanwhike, others will try to read about the actual interview and hiring process.
