I would hope that Parker doesn't give away too much simply in order to get this thing over the finish line.American can't afford to have Dougweiser flee from New York or some other similarly asinine idea from the sweat lodge management team he wants to install in Dallas.

At this point just do what it takes to get it done. Pay the lip service and in 2 years do what you want.

Southwest wants slots if merger goes through.

It is amazing that they think they deserve them. What did they have to give up when the merged? Give them to jet blue or spirit.

Right, because having 69% of DCA is a bad bad thing. Having more than 70% of BWI is just fine. It's not like they're close together or anything.

B-b-b-b-b-b-but they are just a little upstart out of Texas! We need to give a leg up to let their warrior spirit shine!

It's just business. Parker would be doing the same thing in their shoes. His job is to counter their BS, and maybe he did too good a job of that before.

Maybe they should get the slots, but have to serve the cities they currently serve. I'm sure SW would enjoy DCA-BGR!

We now know the tail that wags the dog......as if it is a shock. Henceforth, let it be known that all airline mergers are subject to the approval of Southwest and JetBlue via the DOJ.

If 69% of DCA is anti-competitive, Southwest really should have to give up an equal amount in DAL when the wright amendment ends and it opens up.

Otherwise, its really just anti-competitive that they occupy all those gates and such.

I'm pretty sure that would be the SWA management team attempting the f'ing, not the guys working there. Although, maybe I'm wrong -- maybe the senior management rides around on planes asking pilots which direction they should go... And most (at least the ones I know) ARE a good bunch of guys.

Ruthless management though. I just wish our management fought a tenth as hard for us as their's does for them (or at least as creatively and ruthlessly).
