Default How do fences work for new hires

If one was hired on the airways side if there is a 5 year lock or something of that nature does anyone hired after the snap shot was taken still fall into that? Example if hired on the bus in clt after the sli would ord 737 be available? Will American do what us air did and start opening bases in each other's bases? I would think since they both have the airbus that would be the first to open up?
Also are new hires going to Dfw for Indoc now or is that separate still

RIGHT NOW they are two separate companies. You are either hired into one or the other. Fences? USAPA and APA are still arguing about who represents who at the SLI arbitration, no one is even looking at that. I would *hope* anyone hired after the snapshot would not be subject to fences, as they were hired into the combined company, but that is just me. Doubtful logic will prevail there.

In the future, new hires will all go to DFW. But RIGHT NOW if hired by US Airways, you go to PHX, and if hired by AA, you go to DFW.

I have always heard that once someone hired after the fences are up can hold the fenced aircraft then that opened it up to everyone.

Considering the upcoming movement/retirements, my guess would be that any fences won't be up for very long. 5 years would probably cause a training armageddon of some sort.

Actually 3 separate. If you get PHX (west) you can't bid PHL, CLT, or DCA (east) or any AA equipment or bases. East and west also have different pay and work rules. They say 18 months-3 years do fences after single certificate and SLI.

I've noticed that in previous SLIs (I know, anything can happen, but the previous ones can show some type of precedent), fences were primarily in place for widebody flying. I can understand that. Based on attrition from retirements, I don't think they'll have fences on the NB aircraft for long, if at all.

For now, let's just hope we can get to a reasonable solution for an SLI within the next year or two.

Fences will be minimal if management gets their wishes.

The point of a fence is to protect a group. If that group doesn't want the position then anyone ie new hire or fenced out groups can bid in. So in this case say an aa wide body seat was unfilled by aa pilot then anyone can if in new hire or other.

I doubt there will be any narrow body fences.

This may be a case of wishful people trying to be be too protective.

United lost nearly 5 billion dollars in under two years. Lets not add fuel to the fire via pilot selfishness in American's integration.
