Default AA new hire equipment and bases

What bases and equipment are new hires getting lately? How long is it taking to hold DFW if you can't get it from the start?

Go back a few pages in the AA interviews and class dates thread. Most of the drops have been listed there. The drops are predominately 737 MIA, 75/76 MIA, S80 DFW, with an occasional A320 NYC...with the 737 MIA going senior. I think I heard the last class had the bottom guys getting DFW S80.

Just saw that someone posted the 07May class was awarded:
10 MIA 767intl
5 MIA 737intl
12 DFW MD80

The four most junior awards got the 80 in DFW.

DFW did indeed go junior.......
With ongoing vacancies, it wouldn't take long (unless equip not MD80, then 6 month lock in before award)

Heard they're adding a couple of S80 instructors with plans to run 22 crews/mo for the foreseeable future. So I guess it's a pretty good chance that DFW S80 remains a newhire option for a while.

The latest bid closed and DFW 767 FO was only about 600 from us newbs. The escalator should speed up a little when the 787 bids come out I'd guess.

Somewhat related, but any drop-dead date on the last MD80 flight and removal of the airplane from fleet ?

According to Terry Maxon of Dallas Morning News on 10 May:
" .... the fleet will shrink to under 140 by year's end. By the end of 2018, if plans aren't changed, the last MD-80 will be out of American's enormous fleet."

In March we were told 137 at ye2014 and retirement of 27/yr thereafter. The math on that equates to ye2019 for the last retirement. But other folks have mentioned 2018.

Supposedly, from a GS instructor, they committed to purchase 89 fuel kits for an AD req'd by 2018 (iirc) so it would seem that quite a few will still be in service for a while after that.

I heard the 80s are on the property until 2020 now.
