Official reason a 3rd Lister can't bid PHX?

Tell you what Canoe Whiner. Show up tomorrow morning at the office and I'll sign you up as a volunteer and you can get busy writing the MOU and present it to the company to see what they say. Put your money where your mouth is. Your remind me of the typical new generation that expects things to just be given to them. Volunteer. Get your hands dirty. Don't expect someone else to do it for you.
This has nothing to do with wanting it. I'd be happy if you had an agreement tomorrow. The company just doesn't care about this. They will not lift one finger to make this happen because it would cost money. They wouldn't assign a minimum wage clerk to spend the time to "reprogram" you into the west system. I'll introduce you to labor relations tomorrow. I mean all you have to do is ask and you'll get it right?

That's not the argument. We're all happy to be here, that's why we took the job. There's also no reason to not have an MOU/LOA to allow transfer between bases among the same peer group (3rd list). The FA's have it, we don't. That says something.
Yet you're here to bash new hires for no reason...that also says something. This could've been taken care of in 2008 when the first (only at the time) batch of hires started going West. Don't preach to me about Union resources (Former ALPA volunteer).

Blastoff,
Same thing goes for you. Volunteer. The reason the FA's have it is because they have a JOINT CONTRACT. The company was FORCED to do it. Ask a flight attendant the last time they were able to switch to PHX. They have had one opportunity. It will likely be the only one until we are all one happy family at AA. I'm not here to bash new hires. We have quite a few of post 2000 hires on committees. We value their input. I'm just here to tell you what you're asking for is t that simple. I be happy if you could all transfer where you wanted to go tomorrow. Again. You knew you were going to have to commute. You two haven't even been here a year but you want to complain that it's the unions fault. Did you make a phone call to your rep? Did you write an email? Did you write the company? Do you seriously think the union wouldn't like for 3rd listers to go where they want? Convince the company and I'll be glad to back your proposal.

Again if you stop beating the drum of "you knew what you're getting into," I'm inclined to agree with you. Wouldn't a movement to fix it among us start someplace like, here, on a message board? Instead you want to come here and tell us we can't complain.
So yes, this needs to get moving with volunteer help, through reps, but I think the attitude you've shown is one we might also encounter with some people in USAPA. And yes, some of our East Pilots with PHX zip codes have taken this up with reps and have gotten nowhere, but that's not to say it couldn't as the number of East Coast commuting pilots grow in PHX--which may make it more of a political imperative to do something.
I'm also not optimistic as the company will soon begin hiring through one process for all 3 lists, which will muddy it up even more, maybe too much.
So my takeaway is this: Let us have a discussion instead of throwing spears at the new guys. For nearly all of us this isn't our first rodeo.
That's all I've got to say about that.

You I can help. If you're willing to spend just a little of your own time it makes all the difference in the world. Again, not bashing. But everyone of you that thinks, "Hey. USAPA sucks cause they haven't asked for this" is flat out wrong. This question was asked of the company a year and a half ago when it looked like all the west furloughees were going to come back or defer. The company wasn't interested then about allowing 3rd listers to move. Why would they be interested now? If it costs money, they are just not going to do it. I encourage anyone that wants this to get involved and try. But complaining that your union sucks on a message board does nothing to help your situation.

FYI I never expected DOH, never asked for it, wasn't even involved with the union at that time. I don't expect DOH this time either. However, whining on a message board as a new hire that your union sucks, saying someone else should carry the water for your cause is a sure way to endear yourself to someone who busts their ass everyday to try to improve things around here. Canoe won't vote, won't volunteer, won't write an email, but will be the first one to complain when things don't go their way. I have little sympathy. Canoe was complaining on this board before he got here.
