nimslow- do you think a DFW S80 guy could reasonably get by without a crash pad?

Most of the Captains I fly with, who commute just use the Red Roof Inn, or the Best Western. Both are under $50/night OTD.

The problem with DFW, is it's about impossible to get around, without a car. The public transportation here sucks. I know some guys used to have crash pads at the "pink palace" near the flight academy.

$33 out the door crew rate at Motel 6 DFW North. Clean (very clean), comfortable beds, all indoor (no outside doors).

What would be the estimated time for a new hire to expect to be able to hold ORD and hold a schedule on the AA side?

There are some new hires in ORD they are sen around 9600 on the 73 DOM and 9700 on the S80 DOM.
Junior line holder 73 DOM is 7500 seniority and S80 DOM jr line holder 7800

So it will be a long time or unknown at this time. I cannot guess.

ONE MORE TIME: If you choose to commute your first year, you are making your own problems.

I do get the feeling "this new generation" just doesn't care.
The new reserve system at AA July 1st should make it easier for reserve commuters.
Rent your house out, move to base for the first year.

I've been here a long time and feel the "Snakes" in the chief pilots office have a huge grudge against commuters.

I made a simple request earlier this month and they couldn't even honor our contract.

A couple of days ago (US): I messed up. I screwed up my bid and was awarded a secondary line when I planned on bidding reserve. It was completely my fault. I need a weekend off for a wedding that I figured I would have no trouble getting off with a RSV schedule, but I screwed up and had a 3-day trip over that weekend.

I went in and talked to the base manager to ask what my options were to try to get the days off. He asked which trip was the one in question, I told him, and then he said ok, it's dropped, anything else??

Happens at AA also. "Do me a favor, pick up the time (being dropped) to help CS out." Done.

Manning coverage can be a huge part of the process.
