Nic ...

I'm at a co-ed volley ball league match. 16 teams and 8 hours of volleyball. The sun just came out, and I'm filling in my cockpit tan lines while watching an an army of 6 foot tall women in bikinis doing some amazing things.

The funny thing is, what I'm doing right now has as much net result on AA's pending SLI outcome as this discussion.

George Nicolau's four
basic verities of ISL arbitration are as apt and vital today as they were nearly a quarter of
a century ago: each case turns on its own facts; the objective is to make the integration
fair and equitable; the proposals advanced by those in contest rarely meet that standard;
and the end result, no matter how crafted, never commands universal acceptance
This is in the "conclusion" of the ual/cal seniority award, the arbitrators felt the need to send a clear message recognizing how respected and beyond reproach Nicolau is in the eyes of the arbitrator community. If the west gets a seat, I will sleep very well at night.

United Pilot Seniority List Reflects Turmoil After US Airways Ruling - TheStreet

As a result of that ruling by arbitrator George Nicolau, major changes were made to the Air Line Pilots Association seniority integration policy in 2009. "The evolution of ALPA merger policy including, most importantly, the modifications following George Nicolau's award in the America West-US Airways case, is central to the resolution of this case," the three United/Continental arbitrators said in the ruling they issued.

"The most significant change in the policy, particularly in light of the decision that prompted the revision, was the express addition of 'longevity,'" or pilot tenure at a merged airline, as a factor in seniority list integrations, the ruling said.

A distorted article by east shill Reid? He misrepresents the "tone" of what arbitrators write as he does everything else he ever writes. The arbitrators are only stating that Alpa changed the policy that they must follow, not that Nicolau got it "wrong". My point is that Nicolau, regardless how east pilots view him, is VERY well respected within the arbitrator community and it is that community that will be putting our list together. Again, if we get a seat at the table I will sleep very, very well regarding my nic position within the usairways pilot list that gets integrated into the apa list.
