American pilots left behind until +2020!
Southwest Pilot Accord in Jeopardy After New Delta Agreement - Bloomberg
"In addition to the new Delta agreement, a contract extension approved by United Continental Holdings Inc. pilots earlier this year includes a provision that will boost their pay if Delta pilots secure a more lucrative deal. That would give both United and Delta pilots higher pay for the life of the Southwest contract."
Subtitled: How the APA * the American rank and file.

Weeellllll......why don't you just look at the 10K's and quarterly reports for this year and analyst projections for the next year (and thereafter) and let us know just how far behind we are with the rest of the industry. Locked in for three plus years from now, this company is a financial powerhouse and when 2020 rolls around the weak APA won't get to do anything but complain for another two years plus just like Delta did or FOUR YEARS+ like SWA.

Speaking from a SWA pilot perspective, your current contract was viewed as a "game-changer" when it came out, and we were grateful to finally see a solid upward trend in pay rates. Pattern bargaining has resumed in full force among the Big 4. While the timing of your contract is unfortunate, your fellow pilots at the other 3 are building off your early success, and you should have a great negotiating environment when you do eventually get back to the bargaining table. Here's hoping the company will grant you guys an early opener.

You guys will never be happy if you continuously compare yourselves to other carriers.
The APA/American has ALWAYS been about jobs - more pilots on the list but lower contract value in dollar terms.
I wouldn't even mind a small raise next time around and in return we increase our QOL. Maybe a 5:00 min day across the board giving reserves 15 days off a month, and lineholders at least that if not more with a 75 hour monthly hard guarantee for everyone.
There was a DAL guy up front bragging about their profit sharing and increases in pay, just annoying as *******, we're not Delta or United. However for once in our careers it looks like we work for a company that might have their stuff together and can give us a decent shot at living a nice lifestyle into the future. I want this company to make so much money they don't know what to do with it, and provide a product that isn't so embarrassing that I just tell my parents to buy tickets on jetBlue vs. getting them an AA20. Or when my wife travels she might actually pick AA and not jetBlue or Delta or Virgin America.
Be happy for what we have, enjoy your time at home and remember he who dies with the least hours wins...

Why would they?
The sub-regional work rules negate a lot of the pay rates....
(I do appreciate your sentiment. I just doubt this mgmt will give an inch a single second before they have to.)
