Default Passing on Reserve

I do plan to look this up in the JCBA later but have a few questions about passing.

1. If I'm on a DFP and see a trip assigned to me for tomorrow my first DP and I want to pass, do I just wait for the call at midnight or is there a way to pass electronically.

2. What are the downsides to passing? Seems too good to be true. Pass on my days on and pick up OG on my days off. Is there a limit to how many times I can pass? For example, I'd like to try to pass on Christmas, does passing early in the month hurt my chances of that?

To pass electronically you can select to do that in your RPB. If you have lite sabre use "my trip" then options->more->reserve and slide Pass all trips up to the top and tap submit.
If the trip is already assigned to you, I don't think you'll be able to pass.

Downside? You can only pass if there is someone junior to you in your group. You may end up getting a trip you don't want after passing on a decent one.
In sabre you can set to pass all month long.

If it's already assigned to you, it's probable that you're the junior man in your reserve grouping. You can look at the N3D and see the far right column. If it says JU, that means 'junior unconfirmed'. You can pass as much as your seniority and group will allow, but if you do early in the month you'll be in a low group at Christmas and find it much harder to pass.

In Nov/Dec you don't want to pass early in the month. As previously posted you're more likely to work over the holiday when the guy previously passed to is now in a block with more time.

Another post is also true, passing on a good trip exposes you to the trips everyone is dropping.

Non holiday months, with no plans later in the month, pass everything you can and hope you can go low.

OG/premium? That has disappeared since PBS in my seat. Open time is pretty much non-existent.

There is a decent amount of open time in CLT (FO side). After TTOT opened yesterday many trips were dropped.

Do you have Lite Sabre? I just flew with a guy who has been able to significantly improve his schedule with TTOT (using it).

Thanks Gents,

Yes it does in fact say JU. I had 10-15 below me in my group, so I was thinking I'd be able to pass, I guess those guys got used. Sounds like it might be better to fly early anyway.

Thanks for the reply's

Passing isn't JCBA. It's not contractually compliant once so ever.
