Maybe people repeatedly post the same issues here because new hires repeatedly act surprised when they encounter these same issues.

At Atlas, the pilot group can be broken down into four groups.

1. Newhires in their honeymoon faze who have not yet figured out what a bad career choice they have made.

2. Pilots who are actively trying to leave but have not received the phone call to be paroled yet.

3. Pilots who have been hired elsewhere and are waiting for their class to start.

4. Pilots within five years until retirement who know it doesn't make sense to start all over with such little time left in their career.

I fit into group number two, which is by far, the largest group at Atlas. Those considering Atlas can just ignore the vast majority of the pilots on APC who are warning them to stay away from this place and they will join the ranks of the group two pilots soon. I will see you at the breakfast table in the morning and endure your complaining as if you were never warned.

Bonus points if he's one of the breakfast geniuses who complain the union "isn't doing enough" but has yet to volunteer for anything.

Can you elaborate on point number 1? What's more aweful than working at a regional? How can you lambast someone for going to Atlas to broaden their resume?

When you haven't seen your kids for 17 days, you're getting extended 3 more days, it's a 3 leg 20 hour day through Africa, and scheduling calls with a blatant cba violation, you start to see how a 3 day at the old regional wasn't so bad for the same pay. Add in the fact that you never get a leg and the execs remind you daily that you're not important or worth half as much as the guy flying the plane parked next to you and good times ensue.

As for the building the resume side of it, I haven't seen that it helps. I've got a ton of PIC time and I am a 74 captain and my old RJ buddies are getting called before me. My ACMI stink needs better cologne to cover it up at the job fairs apparently🙈.

Or stay and fight for a better contract that you deserve and have earned!
If management can take 66 million in bonuses last year they can afford to pay the pilots industry average wages

Only a complete management tool thinks the answer is to just leave! How would any pilot group get a better contract if they did not fight for it?

No Land 3 04-10-2017 06:33 AM

You could fight for a better contract, or you could apply at K4 if you don't have much time invested.

JonnyKnoxville and CargoPirate,

Thanks for once again proving my point. Instead of offering up advice and allowing someone to make their own decisions you guys resort to name calling (psychologically unstable, management tool) those that don't agree with you.

And I highly doubt that a few internet warriors here on APC can be mistaken for the "vast majority".

And if you don't think that International, Heavy time doesn't help your resume, ask those that have left for UPS and FedEx.

Once again you prove that you are a tool.

Wow. Three posts in and you have it all figured out. Actually, 99.7% of Atlas pilots who voted indicated that we are ready to go on strike because of management's actions including their refusal to complete contract negotiations. I'd say that is a vast majority.

Please do more homework on Atlas and try to look past the "heavy international" eye candy that looks so delicious. What we're trying to say here is that this company is a really, really bad bet for your career.
