True, Miami is definitely not like Chicago since I can attempt to defend myself when I drive down. ;) Not nearly as bad as San Francisco, Los Angeles or let’s just say the Left Coast for homeless invasion and other shenanigans, but FL does have its share of gatherings in Miami and PC, FL seemed like their homeless capital when I lived there (pre-Hurricane Michael). Just keep both eyes open and carry on with your day.

Don’t get me wrong, between “Florida Man” and the chaos of South Beach, plenty of craziness to go around. With that said, it doesn’t compare to Chicago. Can you tell I’m biased? :D

Training pay!

how much money do you make monthly on per diem during training? Thanks.

Roverruckus 10-10-2021 07:38 PM

per diem is 2.75 an hour so for a month it's just under 2 grand.

Correct. Keep in mind, though, that there is a one month delay on our overage pay. So, for example, if you were hired on November 1, your first paycheck would be $800 on Nov 15. Your next paycheck would be $800 on Nov 31. Your third paycheck would be $800 on Dec 15, and on Dec 31 you’d get $800, plus all the per diem for November.

In a nutshell:

$1600 Training Pay per month, Per Diem, Hotel Accommodations, Breakfast daily, shuttle to/from training, up to approximately $450 each way depending on mileage driven if you bring your vehicle at your own risk. After 4 months you are on 64hr monthly guarantee (no longer 50hrs for year 1). Hotel Points if you’re that lucky soul.
And it’s Miami, can be bad, can be good, it’s what you make of it. Having wheels that you don’t care about (airport car) and if you can keep them is King.

Not selling it, just saying it.

This is a great way to look at it. The pay isn’t good but there are many things that add up to make it acceptable. On top of all mentioned above, the guys in my class were awesome! We all got along great and are still chatting daily. It’s great to hear the ups and downs, and how get past them.

As stated, it is what you make it.
