Default New Atlas CBA = Colossal Union Failure

Honestly what a joke. Someone should tell this “neutral” arbitrator that if pay rates are based in part on aircraft size, that a 747-8 crew should SURE AS S HIT BE MAKING MORE THAN A 767 CREW AT OMNI.

Discuss.

We all suspected nothing more than a pay raise. I myself decided not to be upset about anything handed to us until I saw the pay rates. Kalitta plus a dollar or two is a complete joke.

We could’ve gotten a POS like this in arbitration back in 2016. The union only delayed it by 5 years. Union’s stated goals were to make big gains in work rules and compensation, and allow for us to vote on it. They completely FAILED on all fronts.

And in your eyes the company did nothing wrong? You are putting all the blame on the union. Please explain how you would have gotten us a contract any quicker? How would you have kept it from going to arbitration? How would you have forced the company to negotiate? Please elaborate.

Politicians shouldn’t try to fight a war and even the best intentioned amateurs shouldn’t try to be negotiators.
You need a lawyer to fight a lawyer and the one who represents themselves has a fool for a client.
Playing this drama in Adagio was a poor tactic.

What did you expect?
Forced into arbitration to be ruled on by an 83(?) year old who apparently does this by himself as a medical issue delayed the process by a month. That in itself was a major red flag and a big indicator that this would go “Kalitta” as that was the last offer the Company made.

Not an Atlas Guy (K4) but…
Your union did not fail you, your company did. They exercised every possible path to achieve a deal with the company. We are limited by the RLA. Frankly, you don’t understand that we aren’t like Europe and you can’t strike anytime they do something you don’t like. It actually does suck. But, politicians run the country and we are bound under the RLA. Atlas failed you. If you don’t like it, leave.

Getting 20,000 plus applications through out COVID didn’t exactly make mgmt think they would have issues hiring. Is there any course of action for the union to do anything about the arbitrator’s decision?

No, that’s why it’s called arbitration.
Interesting by the way that the “Union” asked for $87/hr for year 1 and the award is $117/hr.
Thats huge for new hires.
The Unions demands where a little top heavy.

The company did what companies do. They held the Union to the letter of the CBA merger clause. This bs SHOULD have gone into arbitration immediately following the Southern merger. The horse **** Teamsters merger clause required it to. The inept ibt leadership stomped their feet and whined themselves into 5 wasted years of failed litigation. The results speak for themselves.

I am acutely aware of our lack of striking ability. The union exercised every path to delaying the inevitable. And they failed every step of the way.
