JetBlue Union Vote; trade your CBA for 'PEA'?
The union vote starts Tuesday at JetBlue. There are about a million opinions about ALPA and unions.
The question is this: For those who already have a CBA with whatever union, would you trade in your CBA for an individual 'Pilot Employment Agreement' such as JetBlue pilots currently have?

Having worked at both non-union and union airlines, I would say my personal experience has been far better at the non-union airline. I never had peer pressure when I felt like picking up extra flying. No one ever gave me a hard time for picking up a certain trip. I didn't have to give away 2% of my pay every year. We always were paid among the best in our section of the industry.
I felt like working at a non-union airline, that we as pilots were working to help the company, and the company was working to make QOL good for the pilots. At my current union airline, it seems like it is pilots vs. management, and pilots vs. other pilots. That is not the way things should be.
I think Jetblue pilots have been treated very fair so far without a union. I don't think voting in an union is going to help Jetblue pilots at all. I honestly believe it may even make their lives worse.

I'm sure things are just peachy there right now, but if they get bought or merged they have absolutly no protection. I would vote in the union now because when it comes time that they need one, they can't just vote 'em in overnight. If management has a good relationship wth the pilot group now, there is no reason for that to change with a union. When my airline was non union we were treated like crap, it got better with a union. Also the legal/medical protections that ALPA provides me is easily worth my 2%, IMO.

No experience with a PEA, so I can't say that my opinion would hold much weight (I didn't vote in the poll). Give us an example of your current PEA vs a similar CBA. Take a E190 Jetblue pilot and compare him to a US Airways E190 pilot. Or take the Jetblue A320 guys and compare them to any one of the A320 operators state-side.
