Canadian pilot here very interested in Atlas. Wanting ANC base. Does anyone know if Atlas will help out with work permits for expats?

Anecdotally yes, don’t know any details.
Likely a lengthy process.

Regardless of Atlas actually doing this currently or not. It would
be worth it to contact a lawyer specializing in those matters because there is a way for you to do it on your own. Once you have the right to work, then apply!

I have 3 close friends (not Aussies) that have gone through the process successfully.

I was just asking about this and I'm getting mixed answers about what amount of support we provide.

Thanks for the insight. I just wrote a letter to HR. I'll see what they say and will let you know.

Did you hear back from them?

Default Australian Commuting

Hi Guys,

A seemingly popular question amongst a number of us prospective Aussies is the feasibility of long term commuting from our gateway to Aus. Understand it comes down to ID90 or Jumpseating but curious to hear from anyone who has done so, or currently doing so with feedback or tips…DM’s obviously welcome.

Thanks in advance.

The majority of those Aussies that intend to exercise these privileges have only been here a few months, so you may not get a lot of responses.

Good luck with your research.

Not an Aussie or even an expat so I can't give you first hand experience but I'm thinking ID90s would be the way to go on this. The only flights we're doing down under the moment are for a certain Kangaroo branded airline and are frequently delayed for various reasons (sometimes problems on our end, sometimes at the request of the customer). I wouldn't want to count on them being my ride to and from work. I would think your best bet would be to ID90 somewhere we fly in Asia and catch company metal to ANC (possible issues with COVID restrictions depending on where you tried to make the connection) or ID90 somewhere in the US and get a company paid ticket to your base. Going back to Australia, most of those flights are going to pass through ORD or LAX before going to HNL and SYD (with another possible stop in Australia/New Zealand) so it should be relatively easy to end up someplace to catch that company metal back home but again, those flights are chronically delayed. Since the flights don't always run daily you may be giving up more days at home doing it this way.

The expats can teach you all their tricks and secrets on how to work with scheduling and travel to make your life easier but so far as getting to and from the US is concerned, my opinion is that company airplanes are not ideal in this case.

I am still a noob, but isn’t ID90 only active after 6 months at the company?
