The board also approved another 40 billion dollars for more aircraft over what has already been approved. FedEx is here to stay and will be more efficient and the bonuses will be big again this year..
I was at Polar and walked the line during our ill fated strike and there when Atlas bought us out. To say the least it was not a pretty transition and JB definitely was not our favorite but I have to admit since those days Atlas has made great strides and I hope it stays that way. No one was furloughed and all my friends still get a pay check. Now you are Apollo and having been through the TWA wars that left me on the street I sincerely hope your transition is better than Ichan's destroying of TWA. AS for the UPS comment, there are two areas in corrosion corner and UPS did not park next to us, at least they didn't 17 years ago. So guys and gals, hang in there and I am sure Atlas will prosper but not as well as FedEx.
FedEx definitely is turning towards more efficient like Brown’s vision statement prior to the pandemic being “Better Not Bigger.” $40B on top of previous aircraft agreements is awesome. Any of those part of the replacement program for the MDs then perhaps Airbus behind them or the NB? Always good to replace an aging fleet like most must do and have growth as well of course. Good to hear and cutting back Asia runs/routes, closing overseas bases or already have closed and of course highly focusing on the terrible ground game will help consolidate resources and focus on services. Aforementioned info is from the Purple forums currently except for the “terrible ground game” (just my experience with the sub contractor crap personally). No where but up makes sense from here.

*What are your thoughts regarding such a delayed hiring strategy perhaps into 2024 or even 2025 as mentioned on the Purple forums? Not interested until one needs to be, just curious and others may need to know... Hopeful Apollo makes good moves as nothing fits better hands down.

The guy who was running the show at the time did indeed have the attitude that he was going to show 1224 who was boss. The current manager, maybe not so much. 1224 leadership has changed tack since then, and it is having a positive effect.

As for "losing" all Amazon flying, it's not so much that as the deal Amazon made with Hawaiian to replace older, smaller aircraft (read: 767-200s) with A330s. Two of them have already left the certificate. Two more of the six ABX had are expected to go in the third quarter. ATI also flies -200s, so you can expect they will be affected as well.

As for 17 more 767s to ABX, that is your typical game of telephone where one thing becomes another the farther it gets from the source. What we know is that there are 17 767s currently being flown by Atlas that are up for bid. Who gets them remains to be seen.

And it’s also happening right now at ATI. We’ve parked one -200 this month and more -200’s to follow.
But it will be a one for one replacement with three -300’s and maybe a fourth. for this year at least.
Eventually, we’re told, all but two -200’s will be gone and none will be on contract to AMZ.

AMZ is sticking with its Atlas for the foreseeable future.

Anytime you think that a Company like Amazon is making decisions based on emotion (despises ABX pilots) verses what does using ABX for lift do to the companies bottom line, you have lost most of the perspective. If ABX gives Amazon a superior product, either through greater efficiencies or a flat out lower price, (think Kalitta Charters 737), they will get the lift. The only consideration that a work stoppage would be given would be to decide if it was going to happen again and if it did happen again would it make the deal worse for the bottom line than say giving aircraft to Mesa.

Do you have a source on that 40 billion dollar number?

Just curious why Mesa or Dragster aren't flying for Amazon then. Sun Country is more expensive than both. Hawaiian is more expensive than ATI.

As a condition of an Amazon contract, AMZ wants a seat on your board of directors and wants to see all of your financials. Since all Kalitta companies are privately owned, they initially were not interest in those options to attain AMZ flying...and yes they have been approached.
