Operating into or from base? I get told "No," every time. What I do get without question is a domestic economy ticket to meet an Atlas Jump Seat, be it ORD, CVG, GSP, IND, MIA...
Home to Training has also been covered, Delta One FRA ATL MIA.
Everything I have encountered is IAW the CBA.

Only time since last November I got travel to book me an International Gateway was when I finished in PSM and had a two leg first class DH BOS to PDX to complete the pattern. I ended up with an economy ticket BOS JFK FRA on JetBlue and Singapore with a TWA Hotel room on the layover.

Absolutely agree they are adhering to CBA. Just trying to make the point they are not acting like they recognise there is an issue. Spending more money on gateway than alternate travel from overseas seems to be going out of their way to make a point. It certainly isn't "cost saving" behaviour.

Amsterdam or Zaragoza, 747. Liege, 777. Will you get mid-afternoon layovers at home? Meh, but the odds aren't zero.
Otherwise, JFK 767 for big blocks of Secondary lines and AMC trips possubly beginning with a DH to or from Europe. 747 and 777 any base as they have fewer split lines than the 767. You are essentially operating out of base to start your pattern, where you wind up is anyone's guess, but there are fewer split lines.
My lesson learned after a year on the line commuting from Frankfurt to Portland? Expect to leave home two days early, occasionally be on the road a month straight, stick to one airline alliance even if you sacrifice a direct flight for a two leg, and always buy flex tickets on Deutsche Bahn.
