Default Base closures

As a 74 guy that isn't IAH based I'm not sure I have a dog in this fight. I suppose my seniority will be effected in some way. Any thoughts on attrition or pushback from this announcement?

Update your standing bids, but don't stress out. We open and close bases all the time. IAH has closed, opened and closed while I've been here.

The question is... what to bid? I was quite pleased in PDX bidding #1 or 2, seeing my family all the time, reconnecting with my childhood "summer time" home.

Quite a bit of research to do on the other 767 bases.

I know several 76 guys in the Tampa area that loved it. Their great work/life balance may suffer.

Do you think they will go over some of this in the Town Hall tomorrow or will that cover other areas?

Oooff. TPA on the hit-list along with IAH? Sounds like maybe PDX, too based on another comment?

Sorry to everyone affected.

Bunch of 737 FOs that are happy though. Think you can break seat lock with a displacement. I was about to bid for PDX, wish I did that earlier to break mine.

Hi Clue32,

I don't understand how it works when a base closes.

Are your aircraft aligned to another base, or are they parked?

Thanks

Aligned to another base typically. This time it's just a displacement bid, and vacancies are created at other bases to accommodate the displaced pilots. No reduction in flying or hiring.
