Newhires into the Classic
Looks like there is going to be two classes of newhires going to the classic. I would guess class size of 12 or so. Late summer time frame. So if you were counting on that -400 type, you may be disappointed.
Good news, you may end up US based. The STN classic contingent is small compared to the -400. Depends on where the growth is.

Very interesing read. Thank all of you for posting.
My wife is German and I was thinking that the commute out of Frankfurt wouldn't be too challening, but you may all squash that train of thought. Are there gatway airports on the continent or would it be possible to commute from FRA to STN? Second is there a typical frequency to overnights or extended stays at Ramstein or Frankfurt or is it all too random. Finally, what are the competitive minimums right now?
Thanks for any additional information.

Does anybody know if the initial 17 day trips for STN based pilots is different for Atlas pilots living in Europe? I have heard that if you live in Europe, you can bid more of a normal airline type schedule. Shorter trips are possible because the commute is shorter. Many trips originate and end in Amerstam or Frankfurt. Is this correct?
How easy is it for a US citizen to live in an EU country? I have heard that some STN based Atlas pilots live in southern France, Spain, and Greece. Does anybody know how easy or difficult it is to get a visa to live in an EU assuming you don't have any ancestral rights? The visa rules differ in each country, so which would be the easiest for a STN based US citizen? Thanks.

Clue32,
Germany is the ideal location if you want to live in Europe. Atlas has operations out of FRA, HHN, DUS and RMS. Majority of the,
-400, trips start and end in those locations except RMS, the -200 does the AMC. If the trip starts somewhere else the company 99% of the time will pick up the tab for the ticket because it will always be cheaper than London.
I am not sure if the company is actively recruiting right now, I know they have a "pool" of candidates they have already screened.
3HOLER,
IF you want to live in Europe or anywhere else other than the USA, "SPP", will be next to your name and you will not have "Gateway". Self positioning is the name of the game unless your ticket to the start and end of the flight is cheaper than they normal would pay, reference the example above. As far as bidding and "living rights", I am not sure.
Good luck to both of you.
