How does one gateway out of SAC? I don't think any operator serves it.

You could ask Travel to charter a jet for you, but that imputed income hit would really suck...

Plan on SMF.

All kinds of different backgrounds in classes, but right now, regional guys make the big majority.

Are these regional guys/gals coming in with TPIC? Or are they getting hired with SIC only and if so, how many hours is typically average?

They prefer guys with no TPIC. That way you are stuck. They have just coaxed you out of the only way to a decent job. Stay. Get the PIC. Over. Out.

Haha, nice one.

Does the occasion ever arise to Gateway travel ON an Atlas aircraft to your base? I understand the general unlikelihood of such a possibility, unless you lived at a DHL regularly-scheduled city pair.

I know plenty getting hired at various carriers including legacies with no PIC. Nobody is stuck anywhere. And they will be even "less stuck" with heavy intl time- even if it's in the right seat.

You want to have a pilot not leave. Hire him at 50+, not a young 20-30 something with no PIC.

Sure, I used it when based in ANC to get home usually. The flights arrive sometimes its too late to get a commercial flight out. So one can stay on the aircraft and ride through to CVG and then commercial home.

Yes. Lots. Atlas deadheads pilots all over the globe on company jets. More so on the 747's, but also on the 76's sometimes.

Other than not getting your freaky flier miles, it's a lot nicer than flying on the cattle cars in many ways. Usually.

Although, I have to say that it is not too unusual to end up on an Emirates A-380 or a Qatar A350 in Business Class from the Middle East coming home and I guess that's a little nicer than the upper deck of our old 744's...

Dutch- Great example! I live in L.A., hoping to get on the 74. In researching schedules to ANC for gateway purposes, I found them to be preferable to a CVG commute. It's great that there was a through flight to CVG for you.

DC8- Sounds like a nice accomodation on the mideast carriers. Can't wait to give the A350 a try.

To the regular APC contributors- I want to express my appreciation for all the wisdom and guidance you espouse to us characters. It will be an honor and privilege to serve with you when I get my call.
