DoomedTX,
Good question. I'm not sure if they would "can" the resume or not... Unless you could explain your situation in the resume. Anybody else have any ideas?

I didn't do a cover letter and got hired. It is not listed as required anywhere. Letters of rec are what you need.

Hello All, I received the call today for a Face to Face interview on July 27, the HR lady mentioned that we have to write an Essay with introduction, Body of 3 paragraph with 5 sentence each and a conclusion for a total of 500 words, on a hot aviation subject; can someone share the subject that they used.

Thank you.

Best of luck! I studied all kinds of different things and it didn't help. As others have mentioned, it's all about putting your thoughts on paper with good grammar and organization. I honestly thought I was dead in the water because of the essay. I barely wrote 3 paragraphs in the 30 minutes and was hired. Do the best you can and just try to be clear and concise. I will say that out of 12 in my interview group, 2 knew what the subject was about. Not sure what the hiring numbers were, but I didn't have a clue what the writing assignent was about.

Trap, that essay was a bear huh?!? The look on everybodys face when they revealed the topic was great. I barely had a clue too. See you in class on the 1st.

Just got the first call. Woohoo!!

This thread and everyone on it has been a godsend btw. Good group of guys here!

Edit:

Call went great, prepping for the online assessment right now.

An item of note: somewhere buried down in this forum is a brief conversation regarding whether or not Atlas is still interested in hiring if you have a failed training event. The impression that the comments made indicated that it was a nogo item. For the record, I had a hiccup with a check ride with my current employer (pt 121 recurrent check) in which I successfully rechecked with no further issue. I explained to the interviewer emphasizing that it was a learning experience which permanently changed/improved my priorities in regards to evaluations and she seemingly had no problems. No biggie.

Hope that helps others in a similar situation!

1rst app submitted Feb. Updated every 2-3 months. Called today.

5500 TT
3000 Turbine PIC ERJ only.
No internal recs.

Never hurts to have them, but from my experience as well as reading this thread, you don't NEED them.

There's guys that have rec'd their friends, those friends having heavy/wideboy/int'l/PIC/AC time and can't get a call while others without rec's do. There's guys with NONE of that time with rec's that can't get a call, while others without do.

Come on.......who do you make out a cover letter to? I'm an Atlas pilot, and what they are looking for and what is needed flying the line..... is to be able to improvise and come up with solutions to all kinds of problems all over the world. Like airport pick ups, commercial, hotels, etc. With people that do not speak english. Do not expect to be spoonfed everything here. But anyhow.....my suggestion for your cover would be.. Dear Atlas Air team....

Shaftoe 07-24-2011 03:48 PM

Just passed exam! Man it was a monster (even with the prep from here). Thanks for all the help and advice everyone. There is honestly no other airline that I wish to work for!

If anyone needs help or advice regarding the process up to my current progress, feel free to PM me. I am happy to return the favor.
