Definitely.
It will last indefinitely, right?

What's your take on the latest fearmongering going on about being overstaffed by 100 to 200 pilots by the end of the RBLOA?

It's not fearmongering, it's a mathematical fact.

What the company will do about it remains to be seen.

But it's pretty clear we aren't hiring this summer, unless they find new planes to fly.

A lot rests on potential changes to deminimis rules. Personally I favor removing deminimis loopholes, but that will have a drastic impact on air freight. In the long term things will even out, however.

Personal political leanings aside, this company makes money from international trade. Anything bad for international trade is bad for Atlas, and it doesn't take much.

Maybe the de minimus exemption is wrong and maybe getting rid of it is good for America. But I find it hard to see an upside to this (or tariffs) when it comes to our airline.

This is exactly correct.

The entire ACMI business model depends on FREE TRADE. Any encumberace to trade is a drag on the company.

I agree with your points. Gutting American retail like we did to American manufacturing means less purchasing power on the street. So seeing Temu or Shein fall off creates niches for other retailers (hopefully with more Americans making more money to spend on more expensive stuff).

But, yes, less trade means less crap moving means less work for ACMI carriers. In the long term stronger positions for American workers may offset the some or most of the damage. That's the hope, anyway.

There were internal comms a couple of weeks ago. The number of Atlas tails flying for DHL has been steadily decreasing for awhile. Those aircraft have been redeployed for other customers.
