76 is just repositioning the handful that are remaining for now.
LAX base is overstaffed as is, with CVG closing and ORD and ANC new bases for the 77 there will be a metric ton of shuffling going on.
That will take a few months for the dust to settle which will take us into July when the no-furlough clause expires in the KoolAid LoA.
Next step Guyana.

I don’t see hiring opening up this year.

That "KoolAid LoA" saved a few hundred furloughs.

Says who exactly and where is the evidence?
MS said during his 73/76 bye bye announcement that he didn’t expect furloughs.
Repeated that on subsequent occasions.
They cancelled a bid award and the VP of the Union came up with 5-600 furloughs.
Long term medical buyouts, early retirement and natural attrition would have taken care of all of that.
Its like trying to get the Vatican to change religions though, people believe what they believe and will defend it to the grave without evidence.
Anyway, no new hires this year.
With Spirit on the brink of collapse and the upcoming recession we’re going to be fat on pilots.

Spirits dealing with its fair share of problems but to say they’re on the brink of collapse is nailing the last nail of the coffin a touch prematurely. Investors don’t just dump money into an investment that’s on the brink of collapse. Anyway, just came through to see how all was going on over on the atlas side of the world. Was talking to one of your pilots about the big shift and CVG closing. Seems like a lot of shuffling but that once all this is done things may pick up some? We shall see

I would not expect hiring to start any time soon.

Am I the only who thinks Atlas will be a 747 only operator by 2028?

Amazon gone, DHL gone. Who is left?

777 is the future of the airline, IMO. Also there's business for the 767. The strength of this place is diversity: diversity in customers, diversity in lift, diversity in sales. But the future is unpredictable. All it takes is one leader with short term thinking to scuttle the whole enterprise. So my predictions are worth nothing.

Reading the tea leaves: take a look back at the ideas that Amazon was going to buy us, that we were going to have 777 pax planes ASAP, that we'd be flying Airbus freighters, etc. Few thought re-shoring would be a big deal and even fewer predicted a mass restreat of the US from global trade. We suck at predictions.

Evidence is in numbers. We are very fat on pilots with minimal attrition.
What MS says on a town hall is very different than what he says in person.
You said it yourself. We are going to be fat on pilots. We hope they are willing to carry them. The LOA saved a lot for a year. Hope we have small enough of an overage now so they can stomach the excess. Remember who our chairman is. Siegel has no problem kicking pilots to the street.

And living abroad you wouldn’t pay state income taxes either. Also you can save in health insurance if you have one in your own country.
And what about those who live outside the US and are GC holders regarding the maximum 6 months outside the country? Any issues? Thanks
