Yeah, I know those days are coming to a screeching halt...which is why they are going to drag me kicking and screaming from this ol' beast :0)

The 747-200/300s (lovingly called the Classic) is a great airplane...I was on it as an FE for several years then FO for 9 years on it.

The 744 however is the easiest job at Atlas...at least, as an FO. Who needs a landing (there are usually 3, sometimes 4 guys on a flight)? What rest period do you want?!!

Hint: Don't start drinking coffee until the rest situation is figured out!! On the 400 at least...

I dunno... the right seat of the classic is a pretty easy gig..."window heat, probe heat...whats to eat?... :)

As for packing, I pack pretty light; (and in a 22 inch PNG bag)

- 4 Uniform Shirts
- 2 Uniform Pants
- 1 Leather Jacket
- 10 pair of undies
- 10 pair of black work socks
- 2 pair of white socks
- 2 white t-shirts
- 1 printed t-shirt
- 4 polo shirts ( I also fly in cruise in these sometimes)
- 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shorts
- Work shoes, running shoes
- Toilet Kit
- this time of year, a sweatshirt
- ball cap, and tie

yes it all fit in one bag.

My "Swiss Laptop bag" has the following:

- Laptop
- internet cable and plug adapters
- cockpit stuff (pens, plotter, note pads, small powerful flashlight), passport, etc
- also have a binder with "study gouge", various other things and clip board
- cell phone

Thats about it.....

Oh... I wash clothes wherever I can, or get them cleaned as we go some crazy places and you just never know.

I have a question about adjusting to the schedule flexibility. Say you are scheduled to go to Europe and when you report your pattern has changed and now you're going to ANC and on to the East. How do you now adjust your "body time" to going a different direction? Thanks

Hi 744 Driver. Any IOE or rumored IOE in your future. I'm a newhire FO awaiting IOE and was curious of how long till I actually get to see the a/c.

Thanks

Not sure there is a real strategy, if ur tired sleep but make sure ur tired enough when you arrive to sleep at night where ur at. if i arrive in the morning and haven't slept, i'll nap for 1-2 hours then i'll spend the daytime touring around and go to sleep when its dark out at hopefully normal time in that time zone. basically i'll try and postpone solid rest for when i should for that time zone. other times you may not have that luxury if you are on min rest. u'll find your own sleep tricks over time plus a -400 fo is the easiest job and the bunks are comfortable. 76 has no bunks if i recall.

RJ -

What class date were you?

Everything I've heard is Feb, and then things will start heating up.

Atlas and Military

I'm thinking of applying to Atlas after I get back from deployment. How's the company with military guard pilots? Getting hired then after with crew scheduling.

Thanks
