I interviewed 03/22. In the pool 03/28. Still waiting for a call.

b190av8r 04-28-2016 10:25 PM

3/22 interview for me...still in the pool.

206TonTakeoff 04-29-2016 04:28 AM

Same here.

Upntheair27 04-29-2016 07:44 AM

I was a Dec 7 hire typed in 767 on Feb 6 and just finished OE. They are even more behind now. They need all of you in the pool. Just gonna have to wait a couple months till they catch up with training I'm sure.

HVYMETALDRVR 04-29-2016 08:28 AM

Just wondering (as I know this changes often) what are the competitive minimums to get hired lately? Especially with all the merger drama...

2000 hours and a willingness to be overworked, underpaid, and on the road 20 days a month.

Competitive mins or listed mins?

And no I haven't applied, I'm just curious if this has changed with the merger and everything?

If you can fly an airplane, you're probably competitive. I flew with two guys on OE this trip (747). First guy's class has already lost 3 pilots to other airlines, the other has lost two. We had a 767 new hire quit recently the day before his first day of OE availability. He had two job offers from the majors...

Well, I guess that's one way to relieve the OE backlog...

boeingdvr 04-30-2016 12:17 AM

The word is no new hire classes for May.. Always subject to change.

Wow, it's crazy the way the tide turns... A few years ago as a RJ FO I was trying pretty hard to get on there, didn't seem like they would notice anyone without a few thousand hours PIC and an internal rec.

How bad are the pay and schedule at Florida West? Is it similar to Amerijet? I sure hope not.

Anyways, best of luck...

you never know. I got hired a few years ago as an RJ FO with little PIC and zero internals.

I don't know anything about Florida West except that they have one airplane. I know a guy who came from there and he said it was awful.

Word. I'm not an RJ FO anymore and have moved on to other things. I don't know much about FW but if it's anything like Amerijet...yikes.

Rumor is that written test invites started going out late last week for some WAI attendees....

206TonTakeoff 05-03-2016 03:53 AM

Class

Any other rumors going around about classes? Still floating in the deep end here. Trying to find out some sort of schedule but haven't heard anything from company. Have recurrent and PC check this month and would like to save my existing company a bit of money if I can. It would be stupid for them to have to pay for sim time if I'm only remaining a few weeks.

doverby 05-03-2016 04:07 AM

The rumor is no classes in May while they catch up on the OE backlog.

Major Kong 05-03-2016 06:11 PM

Last I'd heard was no more interviews til late May/early June. Any truth to that? I took and passed the online test after WAI but it was the week of the March interviews before I was able to do it.

That is the word. No new classes- as there are upgrades in April- May... Interviews in June

berge7f9 05-04-2016 12:54 PM

Attended the last WIA fair

Just got the email for the online assessment today. But with all the drama, I'm kinda hesitant about jumping into the waters now.

Do the assessment. If they call you for an interview, go. If they offer you a job, decide then.

Things change fast in this industry. It could get really bad or really good before you have to make any decision.

It's better to have an offer and turn it down than to never have any offers at all.

JMHO.

Additionally, it doesn't hurt to get more interview experience.

Any idea of when the next job fair that they will be at?

I heard OBAP in August. Good luck!

AeroCrewSolut 05-05-2016 03:26 AM

Atlas will be attending the OBAP conference in August.

sandrich 05-05-2016 04:47 AM

"PURCHASE, N.Y., May 5, 2016 – Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAWW) announced today that it will provide air cargo services to support Amazon’s (Nasdaq: AMZN) package deliveries to its customers. The new agreements are expected to be meaningfully accretive to Atlas Air Worldwide’s earnings and cash flows over time.

“We are excited to begin a strategic long-term relationship with Amazon to support the continuing expansion of its e-commerce business and to enhance its customer delivery capabilities,” said President and Chief Executive Officer William J. Flynn. “We appreciate Amazon’s confidence in our capabilities, global scale and operating excellence.”

The long-term commercial agreements will include the operation of 20 B767-300 converted freighters for Amazon on a CMI (crew, maintenance and insurance) basis by Atlas Air Worldwide’s airline subsidiary, Atlas Air, Inc., as well as dry leasing by its Titan Aviation leasing unit. The dry leases will have a term of 10 years, while the CMI operations will be for seven years (with extension provisions for a total term of 10 years). Operations under the agreements are expected to begin in the second half of 2016 and ramp up to full service through 2018. "

...so DHL owns 49% of Polar, but Amazon with now own 20% of the AAW? This could be interesting.

Discuss

CargoPirate 05-05-2016 05:11 AM

Doesn't change anything. Management is still treating pilots like crap. Still trying to shove an amalgamated contract down our throats.

STAY AWAY. There are much better opportunities available.

of the 20, how many will be flown by Atlas pilots?

Atrasaty 05-05-2016 06:00 AM

Perfect fit for Florida West. Can see it now, Flynn and his henchmen will blame the Union for "forcing" them to place lift with non-Union FW. DONT FALL FOR IT.

Both the Union and Co need to be very careful - could blow up for both sides. IMO - a good reasonable short term deal, protecting all flying and future flying is in everyone's intrests.

Mannymal 05-05-2016 06:30 AM

I wouldn't put it past them to try, but they'll never be able to staff it under Florida West. Not with the current pilot market. They would have to find the worst wretches in the bottom of the pilot barrel willing to get hired into Florida West, and even they would not be enough.

No. If we have to burn this place to the ground to get a decent contract, so be it.

Tenacvols 05-05-2016 07:12 AM

How I read the press release is 20 767-300 converted freighters dry leased through Titan, operated CMI through Atlas. Service beginning mid 2016 and fully operational 2018. Dry leases are for 10 years, CMI is for 7 years with provisions to bring it to 10.

Going to need to crew 20 more 767's and stop attrition at the same time to make that happen.....

I've never seen anything look good after being burnt to the ground. Both sides need to check their egos and get a deal done.

plift 05-05-2016 08:14 AM

So are you Atlas management or legal counsel? Or maybe DHL or Amazon's?

If it gets burnt down but we get a decent contract in the process then we can easily rebuild. There is no shortage of customers looking for lift. If it simply gets burnt down, well they've shot themselves in the foot hiring a young pilot group over the last few years. Most of us have plenty of time for a career elsewhere.

Go back to the break room at F&H and eat some more doughnuts.

There is no ego in standing one's ground for an industry standard or better contract.

I would rather die fighting on my feet than live on my knees. Besides, the jobmarket is on our side and the burned out hull that used to be Atlas will hurt them much more than it would us.

Then show up to the negotiating table! Our egos will be fine when you pay us what we are worth. Until then, best of luck with your marketing campaign. It's failing so far.
