Does anybody have any info on what the Southern interview is like... All I have heard is a sim ride in a 737-200.
Do they have a written test, and or what type of stuff should one focus on for the Tech interview.
Thanks

Did you get a call from them?
No written test.
There are some good information threads on Southern in the Cargo section, but here are some recent highlights from the interview process.
Southern Air Interview;
- Conducted in MIA at Aero Services north of airport.
- Starts with one hour company power point presentation in conference room with all candidates.
- Panel interview one at a time with 777 CP, 747 CP, HR Recruiter, and Executive Assistant.
- Sim is a non EFIS B737/300 very basic airmanship drill.
- Sim handling is not so nice - most say nothing like real B737. Would be much easier with 20-30 minutes to warm up.
I have some more details I could send via PM if you are headed that direction anytime soon.
Overall impression was very positive.
Hope that helps,
SP

Dude, I'm not a smuck (at least I think I'm not) and I enjoy hanging out with me for 3 weeks ALL the time (ok, I do get tired of me sometimes) ... How do I get a job with you guys? Would love to work there I've sent a ton of resumes etc, have 121 and 121 cargo time (72), international time blah blah ... what can I do? Ideas?

I was contacted for a "phone screening" and on the appointed day I received an email saying that interviews had been suspended until further notice.
I've been beat up enough to not get my hopes up about any job until the first check clears, but I've never had an interview yanked out from under me before. Always a new low in this industry.

In a nutshell it's all about the 400's. Southern is pushing hard to get the approval process completed, but the FAA will only let you get so far without an actual plane of that type on the property... They are working on that, but they keep aircraft acquisition news pretty quiet until it has already happened.
So things are still moving (slowly) when it comes to bringing the 400's on, as it is not just a priority but the near complete focus of the company. Once they get the 400's, and get the Fed's blessing, they are going to move forward again.
Wish I could give ya something more solid than that, but we are waiting to hear news ourselves.
