It is incorrect to suggest that Southern is requiring pilots to jumpseat on company business. All B737 crews are based in CVG. The company does not buy airline tickets for them to get to CVG from wherever they may live. They use the jumpseat in the same way that other airline crews do. It is just a great departure from the way we've always done business. I only mention this to protect the crew's ability to get to work against some uninformed slander.
Ease off the sugar young one. I merely responded to a post making the accusation.

You will be required to jumpseat on CASS; yes, on company business !!!

That said sparky, you'll do a lot better to get your facts straight as to the party making a statement versus the one citing an opinion.
With the above in mind sir you can go pound sand

Years ago I was with a freight hauler that did the exact same thing as cited in the fifth post. Jump seat privileges were suspended with immediate effect. That said, your friend needs to confront management based on the accusations made by the contributer of the 5th post to ensure that jump seat privileges are not being abused rather than sweeping the issue under the rug and lashing out at others.
If the accusation made in the fifth post prove to be true, then... Well you all can figure it out.

We're all entitled to our views... don't you agree chum? Your mate needs to direct his demands to the chap making the observation.

This inability to understand generic internet banter is not new for him. And he doesn't know anything about my background! Although, Cpatjns, I did notice you checked my profile.
A sarcastic statement form me about a rude and racist comment and he went straight to personal attack. I don't think it would be out of place for him to apologize. But that takes a big person.
Thank goodness seldom, but very easy to deal with the "privileged" F/O. First of all... no legs as flying pilot for the day. Discussion at the end of the day before exiting the cockpit will be had. No yelling or kicking. I have various sections of the FOM bookmarked on the trusty IPad. I ask them to read the sections relating to report times and uniform standards as may be appropriate. One can get an idea which path they will take after the discussion.
Repeat late show? All related Paper Work in dispatch will be noted the FO was late for report. No mention or discussion upon his/her late report to the aircraft. All briefings, and checklists completed. Delayed off blocks??? That's when I ask the FO what should I code it as. Majority are honest, and they become humble, and problem solved.
As for the minority problem children??? Well... tuition will come at a high price.

Well, I chose captnjns post to reply, in general, to the idea that flying jumpseat on company business was not a good idea; and to agree, in principle, that it could endanger the privilege. Why he would tell me to "pound sand" I do not understand. I was merely echoing a sentiment from a previous post about staying away from Southern Air. I happen to work there, and I do not encourage anyone to take a job there flying the B737.
