Interviewed last week. They are trying to fill two 737 classes. No 777 classes offered..or at least they weren't willing to say.

I wounder if people are settling for the 737 or if they are declining the offer because they were trying for the 777 position. Any one know?

Do you have any kind of gouge? It would seem that they are simply trying to get people in the door, so I cant see the interview being that difficult...

I guess that if you go in with a mentality of using it to gain some experience and get out it should not be to bad. But certainly from my research, it seems that that is what management has created; keep attrition high and longevity pay low. It is not a FedEx where you would want to go in with the expectation of staying there until retirement.

Yea it's not difficult. I didn't review at all for the interview. Mostly just HR questions dealing with a difficult Captain or a drunk Captain or any problems with crew schedulers.. I think they will have a tough time finding people with the pay what it is for the 737 since you are CVG based..Only if it was a short upgrade could it be a good opportunity and the Chief Pilot and the Assistant Chief Pilot had no idea when that would be.

A few days ago the CEO Dan McHugh had a conference call to discuss the acquisition of Florida West (they're great because they're even cheaper than us) and the formation of a holding company to keep the airlines separate.

During the conference call he encouraged any one who could find a better job to take it.

There you go: the CEO doesn't think being a pilot here is a good job. Its never going to get any better than it is. Period. Management is trying to shine this turd up and sell it to a new sucker. There is no other long term plan.

I used to warn guys to think twice before coming here. Now I can only say: "DON'T COME HERE! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! ITS NOT A STEPPING STONE, ITS A FREAKING ALLIGATOR! IT WILL BITE YOUR LEG OFF! THEY'LL DO SOMETHING STUPID, AND YOU'LL GET VIOLATED, AND THEN YOU WILL BE THEIRS FOREVER! YOU'LL END UP A BITTER ALCOHOLIC LIKE THE REST OF US! RUN! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!!!"

Seriously, this used to be a grossly underpaid, physically demanding, fatigue ridden, age accelerating job that we could take personal pride in doing well. Having done well, we have made a butt load of cash for the company, which they have used to acquire another airline they can use to further divert resources to, thusly undermining our future. Now its a grossly underpaid, physically demanding, fatigue ridden, age accelerating job that has no chance, none, of ever getting any better.

Southern Pilots need not apply. They were quite clear: no transfer of personnel between the two companies.

Southern will have nothing to do with Florida West and vice versa.

I imagine if you have connections on 36th St, you know where to apply. And if you don't, you don't need to bother.
