Not necessarily understaffed. Just crews not being utilized well by planning/scheduling by being deadheaded all over, sick calls, fatigue calls, etc. All for blending 3-4 man crews. Tripping over dollars to pick up a nickel. Line values are still low (30-70hrs) not much OT, and plenty of 3-5 day layovers and or R2 periods with crews idle.

Nothing, Nada.

Save yourself and look to other places.

If you can't get to a decent airline and have no other opportunities go to Atlas, everything is better there and they are hiring like crazy.

Southern in spite of being owned by Atlas will not see any improvements for an indeterminate period of time. Wouldn't count on anything good to come out of Southern. It is the intent of Atlas management to keep Southern Air pilots as the dregs of the industry.

Southern Air pilots make 40% of what Atlas pilots make, with sh*t work rules that makes life absolutely miserable. Atlas management holds Southern Air pilots in total disdain, they see us as worthy of nothing other than to be kicked in the teeth. They wouldn't even let you get a breath of fresh air as they hold your head under the surface of a cesspool.

Trying to get out of here, just not a lot of options at this point in time.

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY! DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME!

I understand what you're saying. But, curious, did they stop interviews,,, and classes? They were being quite persistent with such info until the Atlas announcement back in Jan. That means about 5 months now with people going out but no new ones coming in.

What are the chances of starting out in the 777? I think it would be cooler to fly than the 737.

Interviews have been stopped. March class was canceled. CP said about 50 people treading water in the pool. Doubtful it is still 50. 737 was still way over staffed. Not sure about this month but last few months they had VLOA. 777 seems overstaffed to me as well as there are many low time lines and still DHs all over as they flip flop between 3 and 4 person crew and blended CVG/LAX/ANC start and finish. Still a handful of 777 guys not flying and sitting at home either because of displacement or very low or zero time lines. Sounds great to spend summer at home until you realize the income is the same as a regional FO.

Rumor of jr 737 FOs might get displaced into 777 because 737 #6 and #7 appear to be dead in water.

Rumors of us operating the rest of the 777's from LAN and also rumor of that deal falling through because of Soaper.

I would expect further stagnant staffing plans as Atlas plans to keep us status quo and not bring us up to Atlas contract standards. Meet the new boss...worse than the old boss.

It's not... Nothing is cool about being gone 20+ days straight, flying a wide body jet around the world, and making only $1k more a month than a first year regional FO... Or sitting in a hotel for a week at the end of your trip for free.

Flying a Triple beats the heck of flying an RJ in and out of dumps like LGA and ORD all day.

Those of us in the pool received an email on May 9th asking if we were still interested in the position.
