Passport questions

I have an interview coming up with a regional soon and do not have a passport. In my case as I am a permanent resident, I will need to obtain a travel document. The process (according to research I did online) takes 3-4 months, but can be expedited in an emergency or other reason. Any suggestions are appreciated. The airline does not have any foreign destinations, but they still require a passport...

Just apply for one right away, add a cover letter requesting priority in processing due to upcoming important travel on 123 date to some ABC place for XYZ reason.
When your application reaches the DHS, you will recieve a Notice of Action form informing you that your application has been recieved.
When you go to interview, tell them you have already applied for your travel document & you expect to recieve it with in a month or 2. Take the Notice of Action form with you, if they ask proof of applying, show them that form.
By the time you go through the interview process & then if hired, the training will take maybe 2 months. You will have your travel doc by then. Since your company does not have any international destinantions like Canada or Mexico, you should be OK.
For future, always apply 3-4 months prior to expiry, along with a copy of existing, that will help speed up the process for you.

Note that you will likely need "proof of travel" for expedited service. In my case I've always used an airline non-rev listing document, which costs me nothing.
If you're not an airline employee, you may need to buy a cheap (and refundable) ticket to an international destination to justify the expedite. Mexico and Canada are international, whichever one is closest to you.

What if a pilot holds PR card but has a passport and is a citizen of another country than Canada or Mexico and his airline flies to those countries? Would a travel document suffice the requirements or would the pilot need to apply for some kind of multiple entry visa for those countries in order to fly there as a part of his employment?

For Canada, a VISA was NOT required for all the US residents (PR CARD holders) at one point. Then USA changed the policy & required that all Canadian Residents (Equivalent to USA Green Card/ PR Card) must obtain a USA Visa. Typically, any such action is reciprocated....
But still, As a broad statement, US PR Card holders do NOT require a Visa to enter Canada as a vistor, however, your country of citizenship may affect whether a Visa is needed or not.
A Stateless Person will definitely need a Visa.
Even if a Visa is required, it will be just a formality, something very very easy to get, especially if you are an Air Crew, employed by an airline that flies into Canada & entering Canada on that Air Carrier Flight as Crew.
I am sure that same will be true for Mexico as well.
Best course will be just call the Embassy/ Consulate of both countries.
