Good Luck. God speed.
Study and prepare for your checkride. Let the company worry about the details. It is NOT your responsibility. And why're people so dense with Shy.. He's joking, homies. |

Not if you are not listed on the release as PIC and trained to be PIC.
(Hint: there isn't one since industry convention does not equal FAA regulation. IOW, the airline will not list you as PIC it it's records but you are certainly entitled to log sole manipulator time in rated category/class/type as PIC in your 61.51 logbook and use it toward any FAA requirement for PIC flight time or currency) |

What if an airline has a new hire training class scheduled for August 2? Will those new hires be required to get PIC types? Or even more specific what if you're in training right now and your SIC check ride is scheduled for August 2?
In your first case they would be worthless to the company without a type. In our second case the new reg says employed as a SIC on August 1. If you're in training are you a SIC? I could make the point if you're on training pay you're not a SIC. The reality is, why spool someone up to 95% and then send them out knowing you'll have to bring them back for a type ride in 6 months or a year. |
Training can be stressful, but if you think about it so are a lot of things in life. You gotta roll with the punches, and just do your best. That way you can look yourself in the mirror, and be like hey, I'm good with that.

Yup! FOs can now log PIC time on their legs as sole manipulator of controls because they have a PIC type. :D

You were allowed to log it with an SIC type rating. Look up 'rating' in the FAR definitions. Then look up the part about being rated and the sole manipulator.

What you need to log pic in part 121 world: complete required upgrade ground school, written, oral. Complete upgrade Sim, checkride, loft. Complete captain ioe and fed ride. Get signed off. Finally, sign the release of the aircraft. Until all those are met, you are never the acting pic.
Now, if you want to sit in the back of a 747-400 on a deadhead and log PIC, or log a few lunar landings, go for it. Just don't present yourself for an interview at a major and think you won't get laughed out of the room. G'Luck Mates |
