Thank you for straightening out my naive self. I had no idea that RT was aligned with the Russian government. I promise to never again give that nefarious "source" so much as the time of day.

Now we should all launch into pages and pages of diatribe over which media outlet does not have an agenda.

Using RT as a news source and dismissing an existential threat to humanity makes a lot of sense

Hate to break it to her “supporters” but no one in any position of power is going to be swayed by a rambling 16 year old skipping school to be paraded around like a puppet by globalist morons. She will be forgotten in a few months. She will become another deadbeat socialist living off the Swedish government and fade into existence.

Wow, you guys really get your panties in a twist from a 16 year old girl.

Is this where I hash tag "triggered"?

You wet your pants when children are more articulate than you.
You cringe at any mention of socialism.
You whimper at the fantasy of a little hippy takin' away yer gunz.

How does it feel to be afraid all of the time? :D

I like how retired Marine General Jim Mattis thinks about it. He points to measurable facts…. ice cap melt, sea level rise, etc. He won’t argue if the causal factors are man made or not since he’s not a scientist. But he figures it’s better to assume man is casual and to take action based on that assumption and be wrong later versus the opposite.

This makes perfect sense. Too many of us don't care about facts and reality...we want to pretend that Our Universe, is different than it actually is.

In 1966, coal companies produced a non-pubic report that continued use of their product would cause all of the ice on Greenland and Antarctica to melt, which would destroy coastal cities worldwide, including NYC and MIA. In response, the coal companies organized to put out public reports denying that this would happen.

The DoD is taking a practical approach, considering how it will affect them, and how they may need to react to unfolding circumstances (I was involved in the arctic piece of that at one point).

DoD is agnostic about causes, and mostly agnostic about cures, since that's not their wheelhouse. They are getting on the green bandwagon as much as practical just in case, but there's no such thing as a battery-powered supersonic warplane, nor will there ever be.

If that’s true, lots of very smart people are being stupid investing expensive homes in NYC and MIA. President Obama just plunked down $15 million for a house on Martha’s Vineyard, surely destined to be flooded out soon. Despite the many warnings, trillions still invested in what should be risky ventures due to global climate change. Why? Why do multitudes continue to live polluting lives when they should know better? Since that coal report, climate related natural disaster deaths have fallen by 95%. Why hasn’t the predictions of immense natural disasters come true over 50 years?

I believe you fly for a cargo carrier? Why do you continue to put profit before people?

It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing proposition. People aren’t going to stop flying and I’m not giving up my airline job. I think aircraft contribute something like 2% to global emissions.

But if you acknowledge the overall problem you can start making some different choices (within your means). So last year my power company began offering 100% renewable sourced electric as an option. It costs around 20% more but I can afford that now (back in my college days not so much). Another example was I recently installed a heating stove. I wanted a traditional wood-burning model (cause I grew up with one) but went with the natural gas variant because it obviously burns much cleaner (and turns out there’s many more benefits). Those are just two of number things I’ve changed up in the last few years without really sacrificing much at all.
