But if you acknowledge the overall problem you can start making some different choices (within your means). So last year my power company began offering 100% renewable sourced electric as an option. I wanted a traditional wood-burning model (cause I grew up with one) but went with the natural gas variant because it obviously burns much cleaner (and turns out there’s many more benefits). Those are just two of number things I’ve changed up in the last few years without really sacrificing much at all.

Ever hear of “fungible”? How does the power company guarantee the electricity you receive is 100% renewable and it’s not mixed with your neighbor’s supply who didn’t take the option and saves 20%? Look up price differentiation as a concept.

Hi Rick,

I have a book by Joseph Romm that very briefly discussed protective barriers for South FL.
I tried to find where he discussed it so I could cite his source and add details, but couldn't find it. The bottom line was that barriers aren't doable there due to the geology. Nothing strong enough to anchor them to.
There is no rock to build this "Church" to save So. FL on.

Re-read that article, of course renewable energy would pay for itself, actually much less than 7 years. There is one problem, that the article points out, the technology doesn't exist. Saying we should switch to renewables is the exact same as saying we should draw energy from another dimension.
