But But But the coal companies in 1966 told us it would happen.

I know every hundred years Galveston gets wiped out because of climate change.

It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing proposition. People aren’t going to stop flying and I’m not giving up my airline job. I think aircraft contribute something like 2% to global emissions.

But if you acknowledge the overall problem you can start making some different choices (within your means). So last year my power company began offering 100% renewable sourced electric as an option. It costs around 20% more but I can afford that now (back in my college days not so much). Another example was I recently installed a heating stove. I wanted a traditional wood-burning model (cause I grew up with one) but went with the natural gas variant because it obviously burns much cleaner (and turns out there’s many more benefits). Those are just two of number things I’ve changed up in the last few years without really sacrificing much at all.

Ever hear of “fungible”? How does the power company guarantee the electricity you receive is 100% renewable and it’s not mixed with your neighbor’s supply who didn’t take the option and saves 20%? Look up price differentiation as a concept.

Hi Rick,

I have a book by Joseph Romm that very briefly discussed protective barriers for South FL.
I tried to find where he discussed it so I could cite his source and add details, but couldn't find it. The bottom line was that barriers aren't doable there due to the geology. Nothing strong enough to anchor them to.
There is no rock to build this "Church" to save So. FL on.

Delaying actions to protect low coastal areas will vary in their viability

So if I understand the issue, California’s inability to deal with wild fires is going to result in Miami flooding.

Re-read that article, of course renewable energy would pay for itself, actually much less than 7 years. There is one problem, that the article points out, the technology doesn't exist. Saying we should switch to renewables is the exact same as saying we should draw energy from another dimension.

Don’t step on my government loan application. I figure inter-dimensional energy sourcing is worth at least the billion or so Solyndra got.

Is this where I hash tag "triggered"?

You wet your pants when children are more articulate than you.
You cringe at any mention of socialism.
You whimper at the fantasy of a little hippy takin' away yer gunz.

How does it feel to be afraid all of the time? :D

No one is triggered, we are laughing at her and climate hysterics as this is the best they can come up with. Cmon, let the adults run things here.
