Rumor has it the Breeze FAs are already organizing for a union drive. So when will the Pilots start one?

Is it possible that the whole underserved markets thing just isn't working out the way they hoped it would? They just did another schedule reshuffling and extended their schedule out into the summer and cut some stuff while making some stuff daily. I can't imagine having a mixed fleet when the original idea was to operate one type is helping the situation either. FWIW Avelo is actively recruiting, Breeze seems to be way behind on this front as well, nevermind suddenly shutting down their most senior base. Unfortunate to see, was hoping it was going to work out better than it appears to be doing.

It might have worked in 2019. They likely picked an awful time to make a move. TSA passenger numbers are STILL off pre-pandemic numbers by 600k-1M

Are pilots mainly trying to bail, or riding this one out while hoping for the best? Is there much hiring currently? I applied two years ago with a 175 type and CA time, got the GFY email, as did others in my upgrade class.

Hope the best for the pilot group there whatever choice they make.

That’s already happening. Been in the works for months now.

Unfortunately, past performance is not always a predictor of future performance because market conditions can change big time. Covid and the pilot shortage don’t help. I’d like to see this work but it is a challenging time. I still think we need to give Breeze 12-18 months from start before we write the obituary. I agree pilot pay must increase to retain and attract good pilots.

For me, what is intriguing is how he intends to use the A220s with quick change interiors and for extended range flights. We need more innovation like that and people willing to try new things as more capable equipment like the A220 become available.

Regardless, I believe we will see a JB-Breeze merger (or asset purchase) in the long term. JB would probably gladly take the A220 airframes to complement theirs down the road.
