Genuinely curious how you guys are holding up? How’s QOL, the trips, commuting, reserve, loads financials, hiring mins, overnights, etc? Tried researching, but not a lot out there.
I have no skin in the game, but trying to advise a few friends trying to transition out of their current employment and Breeze popped up on their radar. Thanks in advance! |
Thank you both for the reply. Seems like it stabilized quite a bit which is good to hear. How’s the company’s financial health? Turning a profit?

Pretty much same story. Depends on what seat and base too but in general great job if you live in base, you fly with nice folks. Up to 20 days off for line holders, around 80 to 90 hours credit(depends). If you commute, obviously not so great. They are trying to improve some reserve rules to give you some options but you’re commuting at a mostly day trip airline. 401k is embarrassing, even Frontier has DC and they have lower pay rates than we do. The airline is definitely established now with repeat passengers that love the product but we’re definitely not there yet.. still pretty small for now. Also we still have many more planes coming next couple of years but it seems like movement has definitely slowed down so expect to be reserve right seat longer than it has been in the past.
All ^ that said, why the heck would anyone with a long career (20+ years left) stay at Breeze? You’re missing out on a ton of 401k money and work rules and pay ect instead of applying to one of the big 3. Sure living in base ect. To each his own, but breeze really should be nothing more than a stepping stone unless you are 55-60+ and calling it a day. |

Breeze is mostly older pilots less than 20 years left, younger pilots that are so senior they’ll never see that kind of seniority anywhere else. Most want this place to succeed. And then there’s the junior pilots who are updating their legacy apps. It beats going anywhere else short of a legacy. But yes our retirement is terrible. |

Even if you’re senior and “young” it does not make sense long term. Best case scenario would be one of the big boys buys breeze and you gain seniority through a merger. That’s a long shot and definitely not something anyone should bank their career on. I wouldn’t miss the boat of going to a legacy now before you look back 20 years knowing you made a mistake by drinking the “seriously nice” kool-aid.
Almost Every young person I have flown with is waiting till hiring kicks back up and is planning to leave. Unless they come out with a proper 401k, it will be sad to see these good folks leave. Exception maybe Sunny Warm Weather Based People. Hiring everywhere is just at a stop. |

Good to hear. It will pick back up, this year is just a bit wild with political stuff undoubtedly affecting the economy. Also it’s currently summer and the legacies generally stop hiring during the season. Good news, you can’t stop all the retirements that are coming so hiring will indeed pick back up. In the meantime I would say keep up dating your apps and attend the big career fair functions if you can. |

Regardless, I appreciate everyone’s insight on the question I asked! |

I would bet that it’s not about the economy, but lack of deliveries. Right now, that’s the case for UA. Massive hiring to happen next year so standby for that. I believe DL is really just to replace retirements and some growth. AA mainly retirements, but someone with better knowledge might be able to chime in?
