Military to Regional
I have a buddy (I swear it's really not me) that's in the military but has not built much flight time the past few years although he has lots of heavy PIC time.
He plans on going to the regionals to get some recency before applying to the majors.
How have you military guys in similar situations handled this in an interview with a regional airline?
I'm sure the interviewer can see right through this and might ask if you are planning on sticking around or just getting some time and then leaving.
Any advice is appreciated!

It doesn't matter at this point. The Regionals need bodies. If a dude with a DUI and a DV case pending on him can get hired, your buddy who isn't current in a jet will get hired. It's a new day in aviation.
The best thing to do, IMO, is to apply with everyone and go where he can live in base. He 1. Doesn't want to commute, especially to a reserve line, and 2. Most definitely don't want to move a family.

Tell them that you might stick around if you find out you really like living in XYZ base. That's about the best they can hope for.
If you tell them you plan to stay for sure, you'd better have a good reason, like you geared up a heavy in bagram or something. Otherwise they'll think you're lying.

Most likely, the interviewers won't even care. They just want bodies for their company. They know the people they hire are looking to move on ASAP, and in some cases even encourage it.
If the interviewers have a problem with it, just move on to the next one on the list... plenty of fish.

Interviewers at the regionals know the score -- they're going to know his time at a regional is going to be short even more acutely than your friend. As said, they're going to hire someone like him just to have someone they are pretty certain will complete training and be able to operate the schedule for *any* period of time.
What's tougher is convincing guys leaving the military that the institutional loyalty that (sort of) exists there does not largely exist in the outside world.
OP, have your friend repeat after you: "it is only business..."

I interviewed with a USAF C-130 AC and we all got offered a job. He has been out since April 17.
He is starting at the EOM for currency and the company knows he will not stay long. It's cool though and they wish him the best.
If a military guy is looking to get out and is looking / lurking and it has been a bit I would be happy to offer a recommendation to him or her for RAH.
