Sort of. If you have the time you can bid CRJ CA as a new-hire.

The question of should you do can only be answered by you. There are plenty of jobs to come back to. You will need to be instrument current and proficient or you'll have issues in training.

There are 135 side jobs that may work into your current schedule. The problem is that the high cost of training makes hiring part time pilots an expensive proposition.

That’s one thing I have going for me still. I managed to keep current and land a contract gig flying right seat in a corporate jet once a month or so. Just enough to keep my head in the game and maintain currency..

It’s extremely tough to determine if it’s worth going back to greener pastures after being burned by industry once before.. Leave a solid career that provides a comfortable living and QOL, or continue chasing the dream, passion, and $$.

I am in the same shoes. All it will take is another economic downturn and it will be like 2009 all over again.

If you two like fires and like flying, why not pursue fire aviation?

Since then I went to paramedic school, fire academy and landed a firefighter/paramedic position with a dept here in Southern California. With overtime as a straight firemen I make around $170,000 a year with a pension. I currently have a wife and two kids that I support. My wife will finish getting her Masters in Public Relations this May and with her experience should be able to get a job making 6 figures straight out of school.
I like my job now and get a lot of personal satisfaction from it, but I miss aviation and flying the jet. I would love to get back into the game. All my ratings and certs are current including my CFI, CFII, MEI (although I never got my ATP)
Should I leave a stable career that I enjoy, to go back to flying in todays aviation climate?
If so should I just apply to regionals, or is there some part time 135 flying I could do on the side?

I appreciate any and all advice and insight, thank you for reading through my mostly incoherent rant.
Is it worth the money for me to go through All ATPs 1 week course and get my ATP And try and avoid the regionals, or would this be a waste of time? I know American and United require an ATP which I never received when I was with ExpressJet. I would like (long shot I know) to apply with the legacies.
