Flying back from Japan - Merged
[ADMIN EDIT - please pick one forum to post in, they look pretty goofy when we merge them into a single thread forum]
Hello,
I am trying to visit Tokyo for 6 days. The problem is that getting there on Continental should not be a problem... But on the way back Continental, JAL, American, ANA, United are overbooked. I thought of maybe flying on some Cargo carriers but I don't now where to start looking. Does anyone have any experience with that? I appreciate any help. Thanks

Hello,
I noticed that I probably can't make it from Tokyo to NYC on regular carrier so emailed Polar Air for a jump seat question and email back telling me that they listed me on a flight from NRT to ORD ! Nice people! The only thing is that I don't know how to get to their ramp/terminal and who to check in before the flight? Anyone have any experience with theses procedures I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Well, I fly for part 121 carrier and I am in the CASS system. I don't commute therefore my jumpseat knowledge is not that good. I have made a few trips using company travel benefits so I know that I need to have all my bases covered. In addition to Continental I also purchased ZED pass for JAL, American, United, and ANA. Looks like the flight loads are not in my favor for the trip back so I decided to use POLAR as backup... I have never jumpseated on cargo carrier and that is why I had a couple questions about it. Anyways, I got figured out now after maing a few phone calls... Not to my company because they have never really been helpful. Thanks

Did you non rev or jumpseat to/from Tokyo NRT on NWA? I was told that you could only non rev as jumpseat was not allowed internationally if you are not mainline NWA.
If you did indeed jumpseat, were you in the cockpit or did there have to be a seat available in the back?
ToiletDuck:
Any chance you could PM me the info as well? I will be travelling frequently on these routes.
Thanks!!!
