Default Part 141 Stage Checks

Are part 141 stage checks listed on your official FAA airmen record / PRIA check?

Still wouldn't lie about it though... when I was in 141 we had a very helpful admin who would respond to PRIA and reference checks on CFI employees with their entire employment and training records from when they were a student, before they worked for us.

That’s interesting....

That helpful person could be begging for a lawsuit. Stage checks aren’t failed, they are incompleted..... Every application I’ve seen asks about failed checkrides, not incompleted checks

Good luck suing the minimum wage 19 y/o admin... or a typical flight school.

But it depends on what they ask, some majors have greatly expanded the scope of their invasive questions, including stage checks. This is due to the fact that it's possible to be a real poop-show, and still graduate from 141 with no pinks.

Answer what they ask, but no more.

I believe it’s also possible to figure out a busted stage check through carefull logbook analysis IIRC.

At the end of the day, it's just another negative that you can turn into a positive. Just be upfront and disclose it, 141 stage checks are difficult and everyone is allowed to have a bad day.

Agreed.

But I think the lawsuit would be against the school. They should be very careful what they reveal.

If the airline asks about stage checks, sure-that’s fair game. But those checks are not the same as part 61 checkrides, and not subject to the same reporting.

It’s a stupid loophole, but some lawyers make good money off of stupid loopholes.

Interesting legal questions are, what are they allowed to ask, and what the previous employer/school is allowed to disclose.
