The kid’s 19, cut him some slack. I’m sure you were all models of professionalism at 19.
It’s “cutting him some slack” that produced this unprofessional, know it all attitude; so he needs an attitude check. Or he’ll get one later, only harsher than anything here.

I agree that it is possible to flow without a degree, but why not knock out some online program quickly and be competitive for other majors, or be hired outside the flow at AA. At the very least you have more options or potentially a better seniority number, and at the worst, you have a backup plan when your seniority number isn't high enough someday.

"knock out some online program quickly" - out of curiosity since I honestly don't know much about this - what would be the cheapest and fastest way to get one (a legit one, not University of Canon Photocopymachines).

Check out Western Governors University. It is a legit accredited online university, and if you are somewhat motivated, you can finish a bachelors in 2 years or less. PM me if you want more details.

I agree about getting your degree. It opens up the opportunity to get hired at other than AA and is a stepping stone towards towards a medically required back up plan. But you said the odds were very poor to get hired at AA without a degree when there’s a path, available to everyone, that doesn’t require a degree.
