Default Check Airmen vs Chief Pilot

Any ideas on which position at a regional gives you a better shot at a major (assuming the standard 121 PIC with 3000-7000 total hours with a bachelors). Thoughts?

Both are good. CP probably slightly better than CKA. If I had two equally qualified resumes and one was CP, the other CKA the CP candidate would get the first interview. But its only a slight edge. Choose the job you like best.

Are you looking to be multiple airmen or just one airman?

Joking aside I’d say either sets you apart from the herd if all else is in order. ^ like they said, do the one you’d rather do if you get the chance

It depends. If they're looking for skilled pilots, CKA seems to fit the bill since it involves flying, with some added challenges and higher standards. If they're looking for company men, then CP. But CKA obviously have to be good organizational players too.

In many airlines, including foreign carriers, the C/P or Base Captain is also a Check Airman, and in some cases a TRE which is the equivalent of an APD/APM. That said, being a C/P may be a good way to double down.

Us airlines, a CP typically was a check airman previously, or in some cases they get "comped" a CKA qual when they become a CP. Basically CP means the company trusts you, and your people skills.
