Default Choosing a regional, looking for info!

Hi guys. I知 currently CFI段ng and sitting at about 1200 hours, looking for advice on what regional to go to. I知 about an hour and a half drive from STL and am looking at GoJet and Trans States. However, I am also pondering on whether I should look more into possibly Endeavor and Envoy? With being close to STL it would be nice to not have to commute but from what I am reading and seeing online it looks like Endeavor would be a pretty stable and good place to work. Thanks in advance for all the info and help!!

Go somewhere that you do not have to commute. Quality of life will be ba vastly improved.

If you're young, give serious consideration to an AA wholly-owned with flow. You can apply off the street, but if necessary you can wait for flow.

If you don't have a bachelors degree I would head to an AA wholly owned. Keep in mind also Endeavor is not currently hiring, and their class dates are pushed out to the end of summer.

Thanks for the replies so far guys!! I do have a bachelors degree so that should help keep some options open it sounds like. It sounds like GoJet has some issues back in the day but it sounds like they have worked some of those issues out, I知 leaning towards flying for them out of STL. Any other tips or advice to give a young guy that should be getting into the regionals in the next 6 months or so?

GoJet has a wingman program that you can check out. It痴 a no commitment thing where you go check out the headquarters, do around an hour at the flight safety simulator and get a free dinner. Just talk to any of the recruiters and they can set you up with it. That way you can see some of the ops with your own eyes.

Good luck! If you want any info on GoJet, feel free to PM me. Been here a bit over two years and everything has been really good for me,

Not necessarily a bad idea to take a close look, but do NOT get emotionally invested in a regional. Compare them objectively and make your decision based on what's best for you at the time.

Just because this guy and his management team are making nice doesn't mean they are nice. I still recall when you needed to know someone just to get a regional interview, and they started off indoc with a powerpoint brief on new-hire failure statistics.... "look left, look right, one of those people won't be here in six weeks"

Hah I知 by no means management or a recruiter. I知 not a 徒ool
-aide俳r pro company guy. I知 very much a pro-me guy. Anyone that has asked me about GoJet, I致e given my honest experience with the company. My list of pros far outweigh the cons here, believe it or not.

If you want to know, just ask me, I知 willing to have a fair and non-childish discussion with anyone.

I enjoyed my 9 months at GoJet. I left for Envoy because I thought it was going to be a better regional. I am convinced there is no such thing as a better regional; they are what we make of them. GoJet can be rough, but I liked their reserve rules. Long call, but up to two reserve blocks can be moved to short call (which they do). Last day you are released at 1500 no matter your RAP. They seem to never assign standby/airport ready. I felt people were unfairly singled out in training and placed on a sort of "we're done with you" list.

Envoy has been frustrating because for reserve I never know until the night before which RAP I have. Proffering for RAPS and reserve trips is cool, but not worth not having long-call and not knowing if I can commute in the same day. Still, the pilots I have talked to in the training department at AA have said they are hiring flow first. Whatever few open seats are left go to impressive military pilots.

Endeavor seems the way to go if for no other reason then their pay. No other regional seems interested in competing... Find out more about their Delta pathway program. I hear the pass rate is dismal, but I have not confirmed why. It could just be no one knows how to prepare for it or what to be doing with their time while at Endeavor to make themselves a better candidate. Or it could be Delta pilots hate Endeavor pilots. I just don't know. I also wounder what their reserve lists is looking like with all the new hires. A friend of mine got hired and said their classes are full through August???

United has a pathway program with some carriers. When you feel ready you take their assessment test. If you "pass" (meet their criteria) you move on to an interview. I believe you get two attempts at each. Then, it is just a matter of doing your time with that regional. I was offered a position with CommutAir and there you have to have either 1,000 PIC or 3,000 TT with CommutAir to go to United if you made it though their interview.

I can only imagine how nice it would be not to commute, but even the non-commuters find stuff to complain about. At each airline I have had to give it some time to grow on me and currently I am very happy at Envoy. Plenty of frustrations, but I just stay focused on me.

Hope the rambling helps.

Default Stay away from Envoy

Simply stay away. The flow is the only thing that痴 good and you can join a major way esrlier than with the flow. The bonuses are a scam. You will not see a simgle penny from the retention bonus because the company is smarter than ALPA. Get ready to be sent anywhere other than the base you want and then get ready to do it again when you get forced upgraded. if you are young be sure that you will mever see the inside of a 175. The lines are horrible with the only lines that are slightly over the 75 hour guaranteed are ones with only 11 days off(I have friends an Mesa that get 15 days off with 90 hour lines making way more money than I do). Save yourself some mojor disappointment and go to Endeavor
