Default Cant get a job

So looking for advice on how to proceed with my career. Im a RJ captain for the last 2 years, FO for 4 before that. I have a clean 121 record with no failures, i had one failure during primary, and i always disclose it. Clean pria, no violations, a 4 year degree, tons of volunteer work, good grades etc etc. My biggest problem is I cannot for the life of me get a job anywhere. Interviewed with 2 legacy carriers, got a TBNT (No reason given), an ACMI carrier,l who ghosted me after the interview. Ive invested tons of money into app reviews, interview preps, expensive suits. The result is always the same. During my prep, Im lead to assume that im doing everything right. I try to not can my answers, but theres only so much i can do. At my current airline, i get along with virtually everyone i work with, i get great reviews, so i dont think im an a***** to fly with. My question is, in the days where wet ATPs are going right seat to right seat, what could i possibly be doing wrong? I cant seem to catch a break. Being married with kids, i can only do so much networking on my days off. Im I just SOL or theres something big that im missing here? Thanks for any advice.

Keep going at it. It takes many tries for some. Don’t give up. Just keep pressing on. You’ll get your luck turned around somewhere.

I think you're wasting a lot of time and effort. I've been getting jobs for nearly 40 years, and have never networked, never worn an expensive suit, and invested in "prep" once, which was an email exchange. Send resumes. Fill out applications.

If you come from a regional as a captain, was that your only job? Very narrow experience field behind you? Look ahead to a narrow field of jobs; airline, primarily. Sounds like thats your target; there are a lot of jobs, but you're into a slowdown in the hiring for the moment (that time of year), and a massive training backlog across the board with a lot of operators. You're also a dime-a-dozen, so it may not be that you're doing something wrong, but there are a LOT of cookie-cutter you's out there applying to the same jobs.

If you've had two rejections and one no-hear-back (you mentioned Omni in another thread, and it's only been a month, I believe)...you have everyone else to apply to yet. Do that.

You're just scratching the surface on the effort scale. Spend less time trying to get someone else to get you a job, doing video practice interviews, and buying expensive suits, and just apply. Then go interview. Done.

I mean I’m in no place to judge with my screen name but man, seriously? Hard to believe a “cool, gets along with everybody guy” would pick this lol.

Do one of those DNA tests and see if you are a minority. Then leverage diversity hiring.

That will go well with his choice in screen names.

To the OP: social media does matter. Make sure that you present an image the companies you are targeting would be happy to associate with.Networking does matter, but it’s not an end all/be all. Polish your resume by getting involved as an OE instructor. The published minimums are so they can hire someone other than you, so strive to exceed them by as much as possible. Get involved with your community, etc. It will happen eventually unless you really are convincing everyone you are someone to avoid.

Why give advice to this clown? Seriously… The fact that people like this are even getting interviews blows my mind. I know that times are strange, but seriously? Remember when even Alaska took years to get a call? I weep for the future.

Adolf Titler… what a disgrace.

This is not a very civil comment and might normally warrant an infraction.

But I'm letting it stand because it is a reflection of how many folks *might* view social media behavior or presence which is anything less the button-down business formal.

For job-seekers eyeing the top-tier I would TOTALLY lock down your SM. Open a new FB account dedicated to your charitable and volunteer passions (no politics, of any stripe), and setup a very professional linkedin account. Otherwise you're likely to offend someone in the hiring decision loop... if not the 25 y/o HR girl with a Bernie bumper sticker, then the 62 y/o angry senior CA who napalmed kids back in gulf one.
