First time on here and hoping for some info. I looked around on the pages and couldn't find anything answering my question. Just came across this post and it seems like a good spot to repeat my post and seek feedback from all of the pros on here. My appreciation in advance.

I am retired Air Force. Spent my last few years on a desk, then pursued a different career for awhile, so it's been 15 years since I was in more than a GA cockpit (some Cessna 310 and 182 time over the last few years). I have over 3,500 of military time (about equal thirds SIC, PIC and IP), all turbine time. I have my ATP and 757/767-type rating, as my last gig was a 757 for the Air Force. I have a Masters and PhD, great check ride reports and performance reviews. My question is what would I have to do to get on with a legacy carrier at this point? I am 52-years old if that matters...

Thank you!

I would go ahead and apply now. Definitely use a service that will review your applications and prep you for the interview. There is a good chance you could be hired “as is.” SWA and the ULCCs would likely scoop you up quickly.

If you're legally current, you should be able to get on with the legacies right now. Get the interview prep, jump through the hoops, and you're a shoe in. Given the barrels they're scraping right now they'll be ecstatic to get an experienced mil aviator. Even more so for second tier/ULCC, if you happen to live in one of their bases.

Take a resume and go to OBAP tomorrow (MSY), put on a suit and talk to recruiters. You could be in indoc with someone Part 121 within a couple months.

this: Old guy, where to apply
