FedEx stock flying high
Friday May 5, 1:10 pm ET

FedEx Corp.'s stock is soaring again.

The Memphis-based delivery giant's stock price is trading at a new 52-week high Friday, a day after the company announced it will expand its package processing capacity at Indianapolis International Airport by more than 30 percent.

Shares of FDX were trading at $119.93 mid-day on the New York Stock Exchange, up 1.5% on the day. Nearly a million shares have changed hands. The previous 52-week high was $119.25.

At Indianapolis International Airport, the company's second largest U.S. hub behind Memphis, plans include the expansion of FedEx's existing sorting facility and the construction of three new buildings -- a secondary sorting facility and two new maintenance structures. The expansion is expected to add 800 employees, which would give FedEx roughly 5,000 employees there.

No draft, no volunteer, no vacation buy back. Enough is enough. Pass the word. 2+ years with no contract while FedEx makes record profits is bull****.

I agree 100%!!!

We are killing ourselves. I'm flying with a guy next month that has ONE day off. Now he has a lot of days in LAS and I'm sure he lives there but he has ONE day off from FedEx. He's a real independant operator. OH, I see he did call in sick the other night when the thunderstorms hit Memphis and he couldn't get to work.

After 3+ years of no new contract here at UPS, we also have those few who are taking advantage of the tremendous number of uncovered trips.

The grass is exactly the same color on this side of the fence too. It's past time for a little Turf Builder Plus 2!

It's a good time to sell your FDX holdings and put some of that into UPS. The stock is due for a liftoff.

Sasquatch, how long do you think it would take for them to take off, I mean, it has taken 8 years just to go up from high 60s to the low 80s, but Fed has a trend so to speak, they go up 30 to 40 dollars each year, especially around peak season.

Generally speaking aroung 12-14 days off. That varies somewhat. Sounds glamouros but you are also GONE the other two weeks. So it is a two edged sword. Not complaining, I love my job. Thing is we have guys that are working for overtime while we are in middle of negotiating a contract. It is killing us because management is able to drag negotiations out forever. It also shows them we have no resolve to end it.
