Lets hope the company can cover the flying, its certainly in all our interests that the freight move. The point of no VLT/no DFT is not to stop the operation, just get mgt attention and get a contract done, NOW. Nobody wants a work stoppage, there would be no (on property) winners if that happens. This is a no risk, low level, way of supporting getting this contract done. Would you really like the alternative??

Abosoluty, and you will hear not one iota from anyone in a leadership position advocating anything else. This is truly a personal decision. You can even lie that you don't and wh@re your ass off, no one will (probably) know. This is your chance to do more than just voice an opionion about your contract negotiations, you can do your (small) part.

No, I think it's coming from the people that want to show some support for their Negotiating Committee. Keep doing whatever you think is beneficial to the process of getting a better contract as soon as possible. If you think maximizing your own monthly pay is helping the union's efforts, that's your personal decision. I, for one, am no longer going above and beyond until FedEx brings a real deal to the NC. (Yes, I did plenty of DRF/VLT, some C/O, and various M/U before negotiations hit the 1-year point...and I saved 4-6 months' worth of living expenses for my strike fund....)

Here's a thought ... look in the mirror and ask yourself, "What if everyone else was 'conducting business' like I am ... Would that lengthen or shorten the timeframe for a new contract?"

I do that very thing every day, and I never have any second thoughts.

BTW, outside of self-help, you are NEVER going to hear "the legally elected members of my Union leadership" tell you exactly what to do. Take some initiative, read the writing on the wall, abandon your excuses / rationales, and start being an active union member.

Or don't. And we'll still be here in a year, debating and playing what-if.

Default I'm listnening, but I don't like what I hear

So let me get this straight. You were once an air hore but then you made the arbitrary decision to stop at the "one year point," after you built up your strike fund. Well isn't that noble of you. I guess for that first year you stayed away from any mirrors. And I guess the guy who says "I waited until the 2 year pont" is not quite as dedicated as you. And the guy who stopped doing it at the end of the contract date is even more nobler. See, it's purely arbitrary and you get to decide. And that's the great thing about this company and this contract, which by the way we still have, that you can make your own decisions. Well, atleast some of us can make decisions and feel good about it...

Your defensiveness indicates the ambivalence of your position. You know you can VLT/DRF but feel the need to justify it. If your comfortable doing so, than just do it; but don't expect (the majority) of FedEx pilots you give you a standing ovation.
If you want to believe (your) doing so has no affect on the negotiation process, than believe what you like. If a thousand other(s) like you are out there, than don't be surprised if we're still spinning in the mud a year from now. You know you can do it. Than do so, just look elsewhere to get a slap on the back for doing so.

Default Difficult task

Self examination is very difficult for someone who thinks they are right all the time , or "a Captain who knows better."

Wow, that's way over my head. "Your defensiveness indicates your ambivalence"? What the heck does that mean? First of all, like I said before, I don't do drf or vlt. Haven't for a long time. Just seems to me that you feel that if you don't you're a better Union member than the guy who does. You say it's a personal decision, yet you say if someone does it he is selfish. One guy says he was a hore for a year then he had enough money in the back so he immediately became noble and could now look himself in the mirror. And you insinuate the majoirity are adhering to this policy. How do you figure. If they were we would see wide spread flight cancellations. Have you seen 'em. So obviously the majority really don't agree with you.

Foxhunter.............

You seem to think nothing has any effect.

The company is not moving 1 iota at the Table...............while ALPA has made 3 proposals.....each one more concerssionary than before.

Just what do you propose be done to achieve a fair settlement?
Meaning a settlement that the Majority of FedEX ALPA members would ratify?
